Morning,

Is there such a thing, I never seen it nor can find it on the website. I'm after more info on the car rather than just the standard manual.

Any idea? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cheers all

I e-mailed haynes in January asking if there was or was going to be a haynes manual for the A3/S3. They replied saying that the manual had been shortlisted for consideration and then shelved. They said they may consider it again in the future depending upon demand.

So get e-mailing all you fellow A3/S3 owners.
Contact Haynes and beg them to make the Manual

Although I did also read on a site somewhere that the reason it was shelved was that it was deemed to be too complicated for the average market and therefore demand would be low.

Afraid they never made one for the A3/S3... god knows why!!

I've a couple on my homepage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif I really fancy the electrical one 'cause I'm nosey that way but it is rather expensive for that one.

Sent mine, it's wierd as they do a Golf IV manual, so most of the work is already done. There must be independent specialist manuals available, as frankly I think "too complicated for the average market" probably translates as "too complicated for Beardy bloke in the Haynes workshop"

Done

Done mine, in the meantime does anyone know of a site or anything with this type of Hayneslike info on the S3?

Erwin is the official Audi service site, where you can download manuals for a small amount....

Nice one, cheers for that Gambba /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Just got popular all of a sudden /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

I suppose there always Erwin if we get stuck.

From the e-mail I recieved and the ones above it sounds like it has been considered but then shelved for the immediate future.
I suppose I can wait until the end of the year. It was the thought of them never publishing one that was no good.

I wonder what they class as "enough demand" I mean if every S3 owner on the forum e-mailed them then you think they'd get the message.

I wonder how many A3 / S3 owners there are on here? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/idea.gif

I got this reply this morning, good to see they're giving out a consistent message....
Dear Mr. MacGregor,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The Audi A3 is now on our shortlist; we should be producing a manual for it in Spring 2004.
The reason for the relative lack of urgency when compared with the Golf Mk IV is that the Golf has sold 283,000 since its introduction, whilst the A3 has so far sold slightly more than 60,000. This is only just over the threshold at which the production of a manual becomes viable.
I attach a data sheet which I hope you will find useful.

The datasheet is a 2 page PDF containing all A3 models and specs, don't know what the relevance is.
Impressed that they've bothered to answer everyone individually.

Weh hey, result finally some mention of a production date, and from the editorial director.
I guess we got their attention. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

I can picture the lovely assistant sat at her desk getting e-mail after e-mail, getting peeved at having to reply to the same question over and over again, and in the end highlighting it to management.

At least now we know that it is going to be produced, and the end is nigh for us having to rely on the dealer/specialist network for our needs. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dancing.gif

Nice work, from the director as well so surely must be on the cards now.

We should send mails again in 6 months time just confirming that they still are looking to produce the manual.

Then the assitant can happily reply again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

After reading Andymac's reply from Martin Minter at Haynes and spotting the e-mail address /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif . I thought lets just give it a go.
I sent him an e-mail last night explaining the occurances over the last few months regarding the will they wont they publish posts that have been on the forums. I explained to him that people had been getting mixed replies and thanked him for finally giving us some answers, albeit through Andymac.
I even included a link to this thread so he could have a look for himself.

Anyway heres the reply, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

" Dear Paul,

Thanks for that. You will be pleased to know that such campaigns can make a difference, since when we are compiling the shortlist of new titles for consideration, the number of customer requests for each one is shown. When other factors are equal (number of cars sold, cost of origination, export potential) the model with the highest number of customer requests is given preference.

Morning All,

I think it is about time that we send of the emails to Haynes to see what the situation is with the 'forthcoming' S3 Manual. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sent mine off.
