Shiny black B pillars scratch easily

Thanks for the comments. I also found another older thread from 2019 called "Black shiny 'B' pillar" under General Discussion/Detailing' on the same issue.

Shiny black B pillars scratch easily

I've just discovered how easy the black B pillars can get scratched. I wasn't aware of this, but a search of this forum revealed this is a common issue. Shame I wasn't aware of this beforehand. Maybe there could be a sticky for things like this to be aware of when you get your new Audi...

Does a brand new S3 use more fuel til it’s run in

I just experienced something very similar on my new 30 saloon automatic a few days ago. It was still on it's first tank of fuel and under 1000km. The dealer said it could be a bit eratic for the first 1k or so. I'm sure in the morning it was about 170km range still, which I thought seemed...

Pushed my bonnet down when closing it and it popped in and out where it’s soft metal

Yes, I had already read that but it just says exactly the same thing in the user manual for my old A3 Sportback 8P. In fact I just went outside and found that the method suggested by replicant71 works - it needs a slight forced pull down at the end rather than simply letting it drop itself...

Pushed my bonnet down when closing it and it popped in and out where it’s soft metal

I've just experienced the same issue today on my new saloon. I opened the bonnet for the first time since I've had the car and it wouldn't drop close. In the end the only way I could get it to engage was to gently apply pressure onto the area above the catches - something I didn't want to do. I...

What have you done to your 8Y today?

I went for the easy but more expensive option of paying my local Audi garage €91 to supply & fit. At first I was thinking I could do it myself until stubbly46 advised you need to drill holes and remove the wheel which put me off. The thing is I don't have anywhere convenient where I can easily...

What have you done to your 8Y today?

Had front mudflaps fitted today. They're fairly subtle which I like and welcome the extra protection, especially when winter comes. Audi OE.

    Easily damaged paint?

I got a couple of very small stone chips on my Manhatten Grey saloon within 4 weeks of collecting it - bit of a shocker. Having a very light colour primer undercoat doesn't help either - unless it's a white car and you probably won't even know it's there. I had a ceramic coating applied before...

    Mudflaps/guards for saloon?

I think I was unlucky with my first stone chips. I now remember one morning on my way to work something hit the car after an SUV sped past me. Probably came from one of it’s tyres at speed.

    Mudflaps/guards for saloon?

Looks good but tbh drilling any holes has put me off so having second thoughts. Not sure if I even want a garage to do it for me [emoji848]

    Mudflaps/guards for saloon?

I've ordered mudflaps and was thinking of fitting them myself. I couldn't find anything on this anywhere for the 8Y. I was assuming it would be straightforward. Would they use the same holes as seen here with blanks?

    Mudflaps/guards for saloon?

Yes, my previous old A3 Sportback had the mudflaps from new. With so much grit on the roads left over from winter and lots of gravel roads in Finland I'll get the mudflaps fitted. Anything to limit stonechips has to be a good thing. Shame I didn't think about it earlier.

    Mudflaps/guards for saloon?

I washed my car for the first time today after collecting it about 4 weeks ago and noticed a couple of small stone chips on the rear quarter. Perhaps inevitable but was hoping I wouldn't see any so soon, especially after having the ceramic coating applied. It was suggested I could have mud...

What have you done to your 8Y today?

Washed my car today for the first time since I collected it about 4 weeks ago. Looks good but afterwards I noticed what seems to be my first small stone chips :culpability:- see my other post about that under mudflaps. Used the two bucket method with washing mit and my own ph neutral shampoo.
