Hi all,
I get what I think is an exhaust gas smell at high revs (i.e. when flooring it) on my 1.8T, but only when the roof is down. I've spent a tonne of money fixing everything wrong with it since I bought it in Jan and this seems to be the last thing (for now). I had a burning smell before...
Right, heater matrix changed! Smell is reduced and nowhere near as bad but it is still there. The old matrix didn't seem badly leaking, perhaps a tiny tiny bit, but certainly much better than I expected it to be. Now I know what it isn't :) The aluminium pipes from the engine bay were fine...
I just had Hankook Ventus fitted yesterday...already done 200 miles and so far absolutely brilliant. Early to tell but I think they may become best tyres I've ever fitted. Had Contisport 5s and they wear incredibly quick.
Emissions are nothing more than a money-maker and have created a whole new industry-economy. I've studied climate change at university in great depth and media/government information is completely different to scientific fact (i.e. the world is not going to s***) Even so, I was in Thailand...
Finally finished replacing the heater matrix this afternoon and flushing the cooling system (before fitting the new heater)...I tell ya getting the aluminium pipes connected to the heater took an absolute age and a lot of foul language :) If only I had four hands! I'll try and write up the...
Its not been topped up since I bought it in Jan and the previous owner didn't seem to care too much for the car judging by the state of various components. I'll book it in to be re-gassed and go from there. Hopefully that will fix it.
Just plugged in VCDS and aircon gave me one fault: 00819 - High Pressure Sensor (G65) 07-10 - Signal too low - intermittent.
I cleared the fault. I literally checked this two minutes ago so will google info. If anyone is able to give me a heads-up that is much appreciated!
I've done it! Went out and bought a hook this morning and was fairly easy with that. Sharp one end in order to squeeze between the pipe and hose. Flat on the other end so I can yank it. Job done. Now to blow out the coolant and then fit new matrix.
Also realised my ECON light is always on...
Hi all,
I've flushed the cooling system on my 1.8T 4 times to clean it out. I need to change the heater matrix in the cabin as it is leaking. Following various reviews I now need to get the inlet/outlet hoses off that feed into the cabin (near the firewall). I've yanked and pulled but it...
I will check the flange during the weekend just in case, mines a 1.8t, but it is likely to be the same as yours. I've inspected the expansion tank and that seemed ok, the cap seemed to hold pressure ok as there was hissing when I unscrewed it.
I think it could be the heater matrix as the smell...
I had a massive leak like that too...was the rocker cover gasket and there was a mess everywhere and leaked down the engine. Was an easyish fix for the mechanic, but he didn't clean the engine...left that to me :)
