i've no idea. its a facelift model A3 2000 plate so unsure what they're fitted with. Pretty sure the fronts were some non branded crap so i presume the rears are the same.
Right thanks for that. I'm running the fronts and rears of the HU so thats probably it.
The factory HU had an earth cable connected but I haven't connected this to the Alpine. Is it important that I do? Can't really find anywhere to clip the brown connector to.
I almost burned my hand while removing my Alpine HU. Is it normal for the metal block at the back of the HU to get so hot?
Is there a problem with the connections of the ISO block that could cause this?
Just replaced my HU with an Alpine 9884R. This is supposed to have 4v pre outs, same as my old unit, however the sub seems very quiet compared to when I had the old unit in.
also the sub seems to be louder at lower volume than it does when its fully turned up. I'm due a battery replacement...
Does anyone know anywhere that build sub enclosures to spec?
I need one which is 24 litres (0.86 cu.ft)
Most of the ready made ones out there 1 cu. ft.
Exactly...with the new HU I find that its drowing out the music from the fronts. I tested a 12" in a sealed box and it sounded so much better.
Any ideas on my problem
"would my Mono Alpine M605 amp be able to run 2 12" 1242 type R subs wired in parallel or would I need to buy a new amp?"...
thanks, looks like it would be easier to buy a sealed box than to redesign a box and the port.
Next question is would my Mono Alpine M605 amp be able to run 2 12" 1242 type R subs wired in parallel or would I need to buy a new amp?
I have an Alipine 12" type R sub in a ported Alpine enclosure. I was wondering if it could be tuned to around 30hz? and how i would go about doing this?
I have a 12" Alpine SWR-1242D running off a v12 amp with the gain on the lowest setting. The front and rears are both running off a Pioneer headunit.
The sub is running at 2ohm. What difference would it make if I ran the sub at 4ohm.
I ask because i'm constantly having to turn the bass...
I'm looking at a new HU as i'm bored with my current one. I can't seem to find a decent unit which has a SD card slot. Currently I have a JVC which has an SD slot behind the front panel. Useful because it saves me buring cds.
I've been looking at the Alpine HU's none have an SD slot but most...
Would I be ok using any of the ones in the links as a template?
I'm thinking of using these as they seem to be the cheapest.

I'm having problems finding the right speaker adaptor rings for the front (8L). i've come across a few by different manufacturers. They're all 130mm but some say that they fit the 3 door version and nothing about the 5 door (which is what i'm after) or will the same rings fit both the 3 and 5...
I was hoping it would be a straightforward install. removing door panels looks like a bit of job.
What speakers can you recommend for the front then? and would it mean removing the tweeters aswell or can they stay where they are?
also is there a guide on how to remove the front door...
I'm currently running an aftermarket HU, mono amp and sub. I've rewired the rear door speakers to run off the HU instead of the factory amp. I was hoping they'd give out more sound than they do but they sound pretty horrendous.
I'm looking at purchasing a pair of speakers for the parcel...
Sorry Andy I assumed you knew because of my previous threads.
I'm running an Alpine V12 and a 12" Alpine Type R sub. I'm using the sub outs from the HU to connect to the amp.
The only reason i'm using the stock system is because if i disconnect the audi sub I lose the rear speakers...
Andy that method sounds like a headache! I might just leave it.
Ibzzz I get the same problem when I disconnect my amp so don't think its a problem with the earth lead.
