I do not believe 40k is the price for one of these cars, maybe the very bottom RRP, but thats not an OTR price. Particularly like somebody says above, thats the cost of a fully loaded Golf R.
If you take the difference between the TTS Coupe and the TTRS Coupe the price differential of the RRP is 23%. I think it's fair to assume that the RS3 will be around the same differential over the S3, which would give you an RRP for the RS3 of about £40,300.
Add another 3% on to that for the VAT hike in the new year = £41,546
NOW - convert that to an OTR price, so add about £1,500 for Road Tax, Number Plates etc = £43,046
Ok, you have an RS3 on the road, BUT it won't have Buckets, Nav, Met Paint, 19" wheels, Cruise, FBMFSW these are all extras on RS models. Add all those (using Audi TTRS options prices) and you're probably looking at around an extra £6,250
So your RS3 realisticly will come at a cost of about £49,296 or potentially more if you want to really jazz it up with good spec. Bear in mind that VAT is likely to be applicable to the options list too, so quite easily well in the £50ks
