Mobile phones and audi bluetooth

Which new phones will work best with audi bluetooth ? I had an old nokia 6300 which was great as i had a cradle and you could go through the phonebook on the dash (2008 S3 8P2) but since upgading to a nokia X6 it only shows you the signal strength and you can not get the phone book up.

Ive look at compatible mobile phones on Tested mobile phones

But i wanted some owners opinion before i exchange mu phone for one that works better, after all no point having it and not using it.
 
My iPhone 3GS works fine with my 8p3 . Although I now don't like the phone waiting for upgrade!

Could be a nokia X3 as i dont want a large phone, and that one works ok with the audi interface
 
Same here, got the Iphone4 paired up, work really well through the stereo system

But

You can't play any music from the IPhone unless it's in the phone dock :(
 
Most Android phones should work fine - my HTC Desire certainly does (both on 2.2 Froyo and before on 2.1 Eclair)
 
HTC Wildfire works OK.

Needs to be `woke up` though and occasionaly can be a delay in connectioning but Ok overall.
 
Hmm I've just got a SE Xperia X8 and it won't even find the Audi kit let alone connect to it :sadlike: Its running 2.1. Anyone got any ideas? Think I need to check my bluetooth module version (it connect to every other phone I have just fine)

Whilst it's not unusual for some phones to fail to sync their phonebooks and call lists, not connecting at all or even seeing the BT system is odd.

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here but you do know it'll only work in the first few minutes after turning the ignition on?

Yep first 5 minutes of the ignition being on and the car stationary. Tried it again last night but with no luck :(

I removed the stored phonebook within the carkit memory, deleted recent call lists from my own phone (as per some threads I read) but it still won't even recognise the car kit despite the phone being set to discoverable AND searching for devices :huh:

The phone can see pretty much everything else from phones to computers, just not car kits. The accountant in work has a 59 A5 Sportback so when he's back in work on Monday I'm going to ask if I can try to connect to his system. Mine is a 57 plate (MY08) A3 Sportback. I'm hoping its a fault with the phone rather than the car as I don't want to have to upgrade the bluetooth module. Sorts of defeat the object of a free phone upgrade!
 
My brother is having this problem with his E46 BMW. Nokia 6300 connected fine, new Nokia 5230 connects, but won't do anything after that...

Thats so good to know! I've just bought a HTC Desire (what a phone!) and was getting a bit worried after reading about compatibility issues with the Androids and Audi b/t. Car due (hopefully) March...

Be aware that, when I first tried pairing the phone with the car, whilst it connected fine, it wouldn't sync the phonebook or any of the call lists. I ended up doing a full factory reset on the Desire (had to reinstall my apps but this isn't too big a problem) and it worked fine after that.

I suspect the BT stack on the phone might have been a bit screwed up by something else and the factory reset cured it. You may well not have this problem but just thought I'd mention it in case you do :)
 
Well mine has started working perfectly tonight! it was a 'lets try it one more time' effort and lo and behold it now works. No idea how but I have the same functionality as my old W995. Happy days! :)

Fair play mate... All good in the end. Bluetooth can be a bit troublesome sometimes!
 
Ive got a nokia X3 today which works brill now and i can access my phone book, but if any one is going to get a new phone check on the link i posted A its compatible and B it will do what you want as some wont show your address book etc
 
Bought an Nokia N8, doesn't snyc with the sim card. Works perfectly other than that.

Thanks for that. Hopefully it'll be ok as it pairs up and sync's up fine with the 2 car kits I use at the moment *touches wood* :)
 
check your VAG coding if its right. I had a problem when I wanted to connect my SE satio, It was connected but didnt see phone book. Then I connected VAG and checked some settings. In telephone option u have to change coding to comfort BT, usually is set to BASIC BT. After Iv done that my satio started working perfectly with BT, and see phone book also.

I thought I'd use this thread for trying to solve my problem. I use Nokia E72 with my OEM Bluetooth and RNS-e. Everything else works fine but almost everytime when someone calls me after answering rns-e ends the phone call after few seconds. Phone stays connected all the time tho. After that if someone calls again everything works fine. This happens never when I make a call only when answering. It's really annoying. Any idea is there something wrong with the bt or is it my phone?
 
Yesterday I tried some things with my rns-e and bt. Everytime when someone called me and I used the mfsw to answer rns-e said immediately after answering "disconnecting". The phonetime counter and dialing screen never showed up. I could speak for few seconds mean time it was disconnecting. It was like I had answered and immediately pressed end call button. For answering the call I used the volume button from steering wheel, is that the right one? I dont have manual for phone section.

When I answered using only the buttons on rns-e everything worked fine. So I'm guessing there is something wrong with my steering wheel or I'm just doing something wrong. Any ideas?
