Hi all just wonderd wether a pipercoss viper air filter would be safe for my engine, as its an un-oiled foam filter? Any help much appreciated 

Foam filters not the best IMO. Not that good at filtering air really, smaller particles tend to get through.

Jetex FTW.

thanks mate. whats the suggestion for filters as i have got a carbonio induction pipe but some whak filter on it.

jetex is great but my carbonio sounds better.

id like to see some figures between the 2 on a dyno.

in the summer ill do some logs when my carbonio goes back on

I've always been a sceptic based on the fact that if you drive through a big old puddle, you're in trouble.

I don't deny the idea is sound, it's just you wouldn't want to go driving through any floods for example...

yeh thats why i switch up for winter mate. i had an idea of making the carbonio shorter but i dunno if that defeats the object

ITG just released a tri-foam 1.8T kit, have been running the development kit on mine and can't fault it! enclosed so not too loud and takes a proper cold air feed from behind the headlight!

how much carl?
how many miles on it so far?
dry foam yea?

Smoothed out standard S3 air box with green cotton filter gave me something like 7lb of torque and 4bhp when I did before and after VCDS logging. That does me but I'm a tight **** ;)

Hi all

Thanks for the replys and suggestions...

I want something thats very noisey :) i get a good sound from what iv got on already but its black with dirt and like you same mate, i also get brown trosers when going through big puddles, due to the carbonio induction pipe. What filter have you got on your carbonio induction pipe?

its the red filter that came with it. dunno if its just generic or their own type. ive heard some people put different filters on the end and it gave a quieter sound. something to do with the filter flexing slightly.

I have had a no-name cold air induction kit (carbonio style) on my 1.8T all through winter and been through all manner of puddles and im still going strong.
