On my previous S3 (MY2011) I had the efficiency programme on the DIS which allowed you to view the instant and average MPG at the same time for example. It also showed things like how the air conditioner was impacting fuel economy. Am I missing something or is this not part of the RS3 DIS? I find it hard to believe they wouldn't include this...

first a question, wtf are you doing driving an S3 or RS3 and worrying about economy, unless its to try and beat your all time lowest mpg record whilst out hooning of course but yes you are right there is no air con fuel consumption (pointless gimmick) but we have an all important oil temp never looked at the joint fuel usage page for some reason ;)

Fair point... one thing I did like in that mode though was the gear indicator which could be displayed in the centre of the screen vs. at the bottom (which I can't see without adjusting the steering wheel height)... Just think it's odd they didn't include this functionality.

never look at the screen for the gear display

A friend of mine has an A3 TDi with the 'economy advice' on the DIS, it is the ultimate *****ing betty telling you when to change up. If you ignore it it even tells to to 'note the efficiency advice' (or words to that effect) with a big exclamation mark to tell you you're being naughty. The Mini Cooper S has something similar but far less finger wagging in nature.

I for one am glad this feature did not make it on to the RS3! Similarly I like the fact in the Civic Type R they replaced the economy meter with 4 VTEC lights which encourage you to keep the engine in the zone!
