Hi All.

Has anybody on here fitted one of these grills to there B8?

Im interested in getting one and there seems to be a few on eBay from either Chinese or US distributors.

This is one from China and is exactly the same as the OEM RS4 grill for £185.78 delivered. It is gloss black and I'm not sure how easy it would be to remove the RS4 badge (since I don't have an RS4!). You would need to paint the crash beam if you fitted this item.

Heres one from the US for £100.94 delivered. Comes with optional front parking sensor fittings but has the plastic crash beam cover running the length of the grill (which doesn't look as good!). It is Matte black grill where I would rather have Gloss Black, since I have the Gloss Black exterior package.

Both of these items seem to sell well to B8 owners in the US.

I originally wanted a black edition grill, but these are a damn sight cheaper and better looking!

Just interested to know what advice people have that have fitted these type of grills and what other peoples thoughts are.

I purchased one from a UK seller. Chrome effect surround. Finish and overall strength not up to OEM but fit is good and once on you have to look very closely to figure it's aftermarket. I ended up epoxying the original grill decal and the main Audi rings came with a snap on mounting frame.

Car is presently with dealer but will share pics when I get it back later in week.

Still toying with spraying the actual honeycomb a charcoal finish versus current black. The genuine RS grilles appear to be more a titanium colour to the grille itself.

Overall I was very pleased with it as found the standard grille to look a little "busy" for my personal taste.

Look forward to seeing your pics!
I have to agree about the standard grill looking too 'busy'.
Which of the two above does your one look like?
I would prefer to have the whole grill piano black.

Second link looks just like mine except outer frame on mine is chrome .
i wanted chrome contrast against the black paintwork on my car - figured easy to plasti dip the frame if fancied change in future.

Also meant no need to paint crash bar with the inbuilt plate bar.

With the chinese ones you would need to paint. Although they do look slightly better withour the inbuilt plate bar. I'm just not sure on what the quality will be like with them though and I don't know how hard it would be to remove the RS4 badge.

I would imagine the RS4 badge would just unclip. Contact the seller and ask them I'm sure they'll be able to tell you. I personally think the cheaper one looks better.

Hi Guys

I am dealing with a contact in China with a view to ordering some RS4 honeycomb grills - If I can manage 15 orders I can get really good price.

The only problem is that they are not 100% sure if it fits the S line bumper or not.

My mrs has a b8 SE model but I cant see any difference in front bumper, Can anyone advise what's the difference in fittings/bumper ?

Thanks

Sal

The grilles seem to fit SE / S-line / S4. Had same concern with ordering mine (was listed as fitment for an SE) but fitted my S bumper without issue.

Thanks for your help mate.
How much did you pay for your grill & if its gloss black or just matt black ? hope you dont mind
thanks again

It was around £100. Has chrome surround, gloss black honeycomb mesh and the plate bar is moulded in as part of the overall structure - I figured this would make a stronger version than the mesh alone.
Still toying with making the honeycomb a more anthracite / gunmetal colour, though I doubt I'll bother.

Thanks. I too am pleased - I actually think the badges and the plate help bring it together - the US grilles that are not obligated to have plates and are just an expanse of mesh look to be, well ... missing something. I got what I wanted which was something that looked as though it could have been OEM or factory designed whilst still removing some of the fussiness that I felt the standard grille brought with it.

As I said, the grill quality is not up to OEM, though you really have to inspect it to notice and the last one took a pidgeon through it so without engineering something a lot more resilient, I just accept these have their limitations in use.

Looks good mate. I have seen these ones for £90-100 but the pity is, you can't get them with the painted Piano Black Surround (which would go well with my Piano Black exterior package) just either the chrome or the matt black.

I prefer the whole mesh ones at £120 as they have the Piano Black Surround and I can cut down the number plate holder as I have a shorter number plate due to having less characters.

I wonder when we'll be able to get our hands on the facelift RS4 grills...? In optic as well... Hmmmm. Will probably be about £600!

Ah I'd not considered the various black trim options that folks might seek - good point.
Ironically the mesh on mine is more a gloss than matt black - would have preferred that in matt though once it's got a few bugs on it, I guess it matters not.

Hi bud! i have the same model but 2012. I have emailed Audi several times and they reckon you will be able to purchase the origianl RS4 grill in Decemberish!!! Not sure on price or fitting! if i hear i will let you know!

Sounds perfect, cheers! I'm curious about whether there will be a gloss black version available straight away or if you'd have to get it sprayed though. I'm guessing in the region of £800 asking price... Haha.

Ummm! not sure about colour finish, whether it will come as matt or gloss!. I agree, the grill will be expensive as its Audi...not sure about sticking a pattern part on...however if there is a decent pattern grill to fit the B8 S-Line then I would consider. Will have to wait and see i guess....watch this space! cheers

very interested to see what this looks like when it arrives :)
