Mikes Ibis BE 2012 S3...

Yeah they're much better! :) I'm an apprentice in Prototype Ops at Whitley. The novelty of a Range Rover wears off when you have to go to a workshop that is full of them most days!

Couldnt agree more. Makes it worse that I have access from home to Microcat, if people want something......"ring ring"

As far as sound goes for the BOV, Its hard to hear on the videos as theres so much background noise.

I can assure you, its insanely loud when you release the air! Not 1 person wouldn't look round on the pavement.

Couple that with the Intake "farting" then I can almost play a tune now.....

I would hate that! I like to get home and forget about them, until the guy next door gets home in his RR Sport :gaehn: Worst thing is when you're fixing stuff on cars that have just arrived from Solihull, that could've been going to a customer!

If i could get my A3 looking and shifting even 10% as good as yours then i'd be a happy guy!

How bad is your insurance? How old are you?

Lovely S3 Mike :)

You have opened my eyes about milltek quality I was set on getting one for mine but might go blueflame now!

Tasteful mods like you've done makes my wallet twitch!!

Thankyou!

Blueflame are good indeed.

I think Milltek just need help with that top weld. The rest is great, and the noise is insane at full chat. (had a run in with a new lotus Elise in my lunch break today, I gave him a nice wave bye bye whilst screaming by!

If a Milltek pops up for good money in the mean time, before you put it on your car, weld it! A nice thick bead around the top will see you right. Mines dandy now. :)

looks good, but don't know about wenting in the atmosphere, i think ecu counts recirculated air coming back after maf.

Indeed it does, however after extensive testing there was little, to no difference in performance, just a slightly deeper hole in my pocket from the fuel bill.....So necessary its not, but shiny it is! and as its running a touch rich, no harm done, just means unburnt fuel in the exhaust...shame....pop pop;)

If its lean, then Id be quick to take it off :)

Honestly the best stuff I've used. So easy to put on, and even easier to take off. The shine on it is immense, its literally like a mirror!
NONE of the images below have been fiddled with e.g. photoshop.

They are straight from my Iphone!

Gotta love the clay bar :keule:

I've not used a machine to do this, just by hand, I'm definitely no professional, I'm just patient....

I'm more than happy to give you a hand :beerchug:

Car is looking excellent Mike. The reflection is so good that we can see your nice tidy garage as well. :) x

Thanks Sandra, Tidy...hmmm its not too bad at the moment to be honest, everything is in its place, there is a big porcelain sink with electric shower, so I can wash our dogs or fill up a big bucket of soapy water for the car.

Then its just bin bags full of microfibres and shelves full of cleaning chemicals!

The rest of the garage is like stepping into a time machine....my dear mother inherited her uncles (died aged 94 ish) entire house contents....so the place is brimmed full of useless bulky items, but now they are suddenly sentimental!!!

I'll slowly ebay them and hope she doesnt notice....

Thought I may aswell update my build thread.

New intake!

MTC Motorsport in white

Really nice piece of kit, cant recommend it enough and EPIC value.

Stainless steel sections, with the MAF part being acid pickled to smooth the welds out.

Good thick quality silicone pipes.

Its a quiet intake compared to the P-flo, so I can now hear my dump valve alot more!

Performs A1, 19bhp gain on a test on a Leon. :)

you could hear it even if it was recirculating air :D

True! but it was sometimes difficult to tell them apart!

I will miss the loudness of the P-Flo, it always turned heads instantly as it was super loud.

The MTC is slightly more conservative, but all the same affective. :) very affective!

Maybe one day I'll return to my re-circ ways, but for now, I want clean fresh COLD air :)

P.S the bung I've used is a Forge one.

I wish I took a picture of it before I stuffed it in there, work of machined art.

+ It matches the intake perfectly :)

Great looking car, glad you bumped the thread as i never saw it originally.

That's a shame about the milltek, although it's not the first time i have heard about their quality issues.

Thankyou.

Yes Milltek was a let down, but i did half expect it and was always looking for it.

But since laying down a tonne of weld around the weak part, its been dandy, cant complain now.

So this morning i've gone back to 're-circ mode' using this device, I cant tell the difference in performance at all.

Its much louder on lift off now due to the 'tunnel effect' from the intake. Much deeper wooooshh, So thats a bonus :jump:

Gonna leave it 're-circing' for a little while, just because simply, I can...:footy:

Not a massively exciting update, but its an update nevertheless.

Hopefully get around to fitting this soon as it arrived today, keep things a little more sturdy under there!

i've got the purple one as it's sexy :D

Thats the track version isnt it? I didnt want to over do it, I'd still like a little luxury and refinement, and wasn't sure if it would ruin the experience for everyday driving, so thought I'll play it safe for now...

i didn't feel any difference...

i'm sure the yellow one does the job same as purple one. but i just had to have that colour :D

well it's installed and there is definitly a difference!

In low gears 1st/2nd there is more engine vibration through the cabin. Not excessive, just enough to be aware of.

Rest of the experience is all good, placebo effect might be occurring here, but I'm sure the downshifts are smoother!

P.S. bit of a b*****d to get into place and pushed fully home, but a bit of persuasion she was dandy!

£23 mod, easy really, may aswell be done.

Torque arm rather the dog bone then? was looking to get one as I had the dog bone one on my VW which was a bit rattly as previously mentioned.

Blueflame are awesome. Had two of their products. All be it on motorbikes but epic product all the same

BCS fitted one of those when I had their exhaust system fitted, definitely get a bit more vibration but nothing to really be a concern about, for me anyway.

Just renewed my insurance about 30 minutes ago, £593 with mods declared from Quotemehappy.com!!

Will be 24 years old when it renews in a week or 2, pretty happy with that to be honest.

Admiral wanted £1107 with mods undeclared.... ridiculous.

The distant memory of having £2,000 a year insurance still haunts me though!!

Soon to have the S3 in full winter mode, with Skis on roof and winter tyres on....

New roof bars looking good :)

Pictures to follow around the 20th Jan probably....

Car looks awesome, would you say the powerflex mount was worth the money?
Insurance sucks, that's a good price though, I'm a similar age I'm 24 at the weekend. I insured mine in September and paid £660 (with 3 points :( )

What class is your postcode?

Great work Mike. I'm on a PCP with mine, the modding bug has really bitten but I think I'm going to have to rein it in after the Pro-Kit goes on!

Cheers buddy.

It really depends if you want to keep the refinement. Low gear, parking for example, there's vibrations through the cabin.

At first turn of the key I was like urrrrr not sure about this....I kinda like it now, makes it feel rougher and more of an animal.

I get no movement in that mount anymore I don't think, the other mounts move instead, so they're on the list of "to do's". Along with the fuel pump...happy enough for now though.

So if you want more feeling through the car, then yes no brainer, buy one.

So all I get now is constant non resonated noise from my exhaust, intake on full flutter from Forge DV and heavy breathing noises and vibes through the cabin....

Some would say I've ruined it...

I think otherwise...I mean... who doesn't like heavy breathing......suction noises.....and intense sounds from the screamer pipe?!

In regards to the Postcode question, where do I find that info out from?

Yea that sort of stuff doesn't bother me, I'm wondering how much different the 'track' one is to the 'fast road.' I'm going to order the pair, annoyingly mines an 08 so I need to see which shape I've got first. Did you got the smaller bush as well or just the large one?

I just did the big one.

There can't be much difference in them once fitted, the fast road one was a complete ******* to fit as it's so tight in there, even fully lubed up...(not sure how else to word that!!)

So if I was you I'd get the track one, as the fast road one flexes loads when you try and insert into the mount due to the resistance from being such a tight fit.

I'd have thought you'll have the earlier mount, but I'd do a visual on him first.
