Mikes Ibis BE 2012 S3...

Seems like a great price!

Mods covered on a like for like basis?

I see no clause stating otherwise...

As long as I'm alive after an accident i'd be happy and the car was either repaired or replaced to standard specification, all would be dandy in my eyes.

Winter tyres on..... Bridgestone Blizzaks

Full Ski Pack going on later in the month.... dont want to put it on mega early before Skiing....it'll no doubt get nicked or something...

should look awesome....

Well had my service last night at my local Audi/VW independent/friend, only done 5k since last service.

Just wanted it mint before I take it to the Alps at the end of January.

Up it goes on the ramp, hadn't long been up to do the engine mount either, and boom...

Hard initially to tell whether its rear main oil seal leaking or more of a weep or the very corner of the sump.

Got in touch with my main Audi dealer at 12pm today, they said drop it down and they'll have a look. So 12.30pm, I'm there.

Parts speculatively ordered, car is straight on the ramp, gearbox being removed, Should have her back tomorrow.

Fingers....pies....ahhhh thats how to do it.

Well turns out my DSG flywheel is ****ed, and that's what's leaking?!

Very rare on these.... suppose something had to give at some point!!

Thank god for warranty!!!

How were Audi in relation to your mods? Mine has an intermittent communication fault with Haldex, nervous as they might attribute that to the map?

I sent a lengthy email to the business manager explaining exactly where the car stands, and basically if you'd like my future custom, then I suggest you have a word with the warranty administrator and for him to turn a blind eye.

Also helps that I'm part of the large motor organisation group which shall remain anonymous for obvious reasons...

He also said, if the car has say a turbo problem for example and it's tuned etc then there'd probably have a problem.

But if the breakage isn't in direct correlation to my modifications then all is well.

Since then obviously we've found out it's not the rear main oil seal and infact the flywheel....but continue to go through warranty as promised.

In your shoes, I'd say you'll be fine putting yours in to Audi. You haven't physically snapped a shaft or anything.

Hi Mike,

Your experience with your dealer was much the same to mine.

The actual mechanics were very interested, and as the car developed, they got more so,and no warranty problems were ever raised, although the understanding was clear in that any failures related to what I'd done would not be covered.

Funnily enough though I have a sneaky suspicion that my flywheel problem is almost certainly because of the uprated power and the ridiculous way I drive it haha.

But hey ho, new flywheel please and thankyou.... haha

To be fair, dealers like the work anyway. especially if it's quiet with little retail customers.

Maybe true!

Mine lasted pretty well, and the DMF only came out when the Spec clutch went in,but it was amusing seeing the Audi guys gathering around the car each time it went in during the warranty period.

They delivered a luxurious A5 coupe as my courtesy car today. Not bad..

A little more reassured chaps... Alex, have you seen my latest regarding the Haldex?

All fixed woooo, and plenty better for it too!

+ they changed my brake fluid FOC as it's my birthday!

Will try and break it more often I think.

Looks worse than it is.....I stripped it down...just bottom plastic and indicator smashed..... little less than £20..... I'll fix it tomorrow..

Oh and many thanks to the huge lorry sized dark red Peugeot 207 for the pleasure. *******.

It was only a matter of time something went wrong with you driving it, Lewis Hamilton! :moa:

Haha.....dont know what your on about.....

100% not my fault!!! I was near a dead stop when the f***er drove at me!!

I thought these were stretched bolts and can only be used once?

I may be wrong but I used a new one .

I wouldn't be surprised if it was one, but i really cannot see it being necessary, its basically a stabiliser not what i'd call a major weight bearing mount.

Yeah I would think that it would be under some strain though when coming on and off the pedal but to be honest I've not got a clue , just read some horror stories of them breaking .

I'd just do a warranty claim :)

Fairly straight forward fix in my lunch break this afternoon, new bottom piece and indicator.....

Not a big fan of all the flipping clips though...

Order is restored.

You mean diffuser, don't you :p

I'm still puzzled by your flywheel and oil leak. A DMF flywheel hasn't got oil in it, does it? Where did the oil come from? :/

I asked this question too.

The leak was a thick oil/grease, which is situated somewhere in the flywheel itself.

The tech has a picture of it that he was going to send me but he never did. There was loads of it to be honest, spread itself all over the place, annoyingly not getting to the clutch, as that would have been nice to have under warranty too.

did you paint front splitter too?
as i have plans of doing both front and back in gloss black, so just wanted to see how it looks. rear one looks great.

I was going to have the front painted too to get rid of all the stone chips but I'd just come back from holiday and I'd run out of money.

So I left my DIY front gloss splitter for now.

I tend to attract stones anyway, so it would only get knackered again anyway!

The whole front of the 8P is really bad for attracting stone chips :(
Mine looks pebble dashed.

Clay bar has been out today.... first one since Skiing.... was a long day, was light outside when I started, dark when i finished :(

Company car on the way....means S3 probably has to go in the near future..... :-(

£22.5k with all performance bits on it if anyone is interested.

Otherwise all performance bits to follow once I take them off...

Not sure whether to keep her for my Ski trip in January again....decisions decisions.

Well this sucks mate what's the company car?
It does and it doesn't.

Been 8P'd up for 5+ years with 3 different ones. So probably time to move on anyway.

Company car will be a New Leon. Gonna run a sensible diesel for 3 months, then go Cupra probably.

It probably won't sell until the new year anyway as Christmas is looming, so I'll probably end up going skiing in it again. Which will be good.

A bit off topic, but love the James Cauty avi!
