Hi Guys,

I had a chat with one of the guys from Revo yesterday at Dubshed about a simple Stage 1 remap on my 06 S3. He recommended getting a new clutch. I know this is the car's weakpoint but I'm curious to hear others experiences with 300+bhp on a standard clutch?

Cheers,
Alan

I'm running Revo stage 1 on my S3 on standard clutch and now got 58k on.
Only ran stage 1 for 4k but going stage 2+ next month so I'm sure the clutch will melt then.

I drive mine fairly hard but don't make it labour ie In 6th hear at say 60mph I won't ask for full boost I'll drop to 5th and no signs of slippage yet.
I'm also running a fuel pump with settings adjusted for that so I'm running slightly more power than stage 1.

Ok perfect cheers for your help! I may bite the bullet, there's a discount on Revo over here in Northern Ireland as it's the beginning of show season so I want to make sure the car can take it before I do it.

My car has been mapped with Revo ST1. It has done 56k miles (2.5k being mapped) and I have noticed the clutch has started to just slip on occasions where the load s high. Already budgeted for a new clutch and flywheel.

My previous car had an APR stage 1 map with the original clutch, and had done around 10k without any signs of slipping or wear and was on 72k when I sold it.

I have a Shark Stage 1 map and my clutch started to slip 1k ago. It has since stopped slipping. I am on 78k so it's about due.

Most of us get by Stg1 with the stock clutch, but most give up at Stg2,and mine certainly did.

I replaced it with a Sachs organic, which if you bed it in and then treat it sensibly, should see you up to over 400lbs without trouble.
Give it hell early on,and it won't last though.

Mine started slipping also at stage 1 but as mentioned thats not always the case and it depends what type of life the clutch has had before you got the car plus how you drive it when you get the stage 1 done.

What these guys said. My 2012 S3 does really low miles (exactly 14k in two years) but is driven mercilessly hard although looked after too. I put Stage 1 Shark map on in July last year, then tweaked at HQ in September. I've only once had a clutch issue, it slipped when I had an entire front 5 (I'm the hooker!) plus kit in the car driving to an away rugby match, and floored it from 30 uphill!

Stage 1 here with no clutch slip. I dont know for sure but I have a feeling there could possibly be a better clutch in the face lifts? I know from talking to Boydie he said his standard clutch was rubbish but mine seems to be holding up alright. Also did you have your s3 at Dubshed? I was parked outside myself, but never saw another blue s3.

Forgive my noobishness but are these clutch issues with a stage 1 as much of a problem / weakness with s-tronic??

My car is also at stage 1 and my clutch was slipping after about a week, it does it in the higher gears 3rd upwards at WOT. It was mapped at 70k so probably expected.

Mine also failed soon after REVO stage1.

Later or replacement OEM units seem to cope better.
Mine was replaced under warranty.

My clutch went after 27000 on my A4 B8 2.0Tfsi after a Revo remap.
Which Audi dealer replaced yours under warranty ?
Manchester Audi plugged mine into the diagnosis machine and saw it has been remapped.

it's the same clutch made of butter as in prefacelift. it' actually depends on your driving style. if you don't do 0-60 often and don't floor it in higher gears from 2000rpm it will last much longer...

Oh right. Yeah I never really do 0-60 to be honest. It feels so harsh on the engine. If I was wanting to give it the beans I would floor it in 3rd. I have seen me flooring it in 6th as well though.

Benfield at the Silverlink in North Shields.

Paid them way over the odds for some other work to be done at the same time so maybe why they were quite accomodating.

Got mine booked in for a stage 1 revo at the weekend, 37k on the clock so will see how the clutch is.
