Can anyone recommend a good quality oil to use in a stage 2+ 2007 S3?
Looking for something that a shop will stock preferably so I can pick it up tonight/tomorrow.

5w30 504.00/507.00 specification.

Brands really do not matter so long as they match the specification.

That was the one I was going to get just purely due to it being next to Audi

Brand and spec are far less important than changing it regularly. I would suggest 5k miles if you drive it hard but no more than 10k miles. Do not rely on the DIS to remind you when to change the oil.

Get me my tattoo gun, im gonna start inking people with 5w30 504/507

Also, I just did an oil change today, what the **** is up with Castrol selling 4L containers? I had to buy a 4L and a 1L bottle. It's like that thing of odd numbers of hotdogs in a tin.

The standard stuff will be fine I'm sure but personally I'm not 100% sold that the same oil yer nana in her little 1.2 polo that never breaks 70mph, 4000rpm or 80 degrees C oil temps is optimal for a 360+ bhp S3 that gets driven hard, for extended periods & regularly taken to the redline.

In my opinion any stage tuned S3 driven with any anger I'd be (and am) running something that offers a little more protection at the hot end. Millers Competition CFS 5w40 in my S3 at the moment, Fuchs Pro-S 5w40 equally on par or if you like the tech then Millers CFS Nanodrive 5w40 NT, all Ester Synthetic oils, and both Millers/Fuchs make about the best oils available.

I'm running a 6-7k oil change schedule too, which as mentioned above is actually probably the more important part.

Sorry, I know that question has probably been asked a million times.
It isn't my Audi, I'm only here to help my little brother and wasn't too sure if it would be the same oil as my Evo or not.

But from what Muzza is saying then yes, I've been using Fuchs Pro-S 5W40 for years but last year switched to Millers CFS 5W40. Thanks folks.

I disagree, brand may not matter but matching the spec does.

Otherwise I would put used veg oil and and as long as I changed it every 5K that would be ok?

Personally I would rather have a decent brand that matched the spec. There is no way I would stick cheap oil in even if it matched the spec. I would go for something tried and tested.

I spoke to opie oils and I ended up buying the Fuchs 5w 40 stuff pro s I think if you buy 5 litres you get free litre of offer is still there, car goes into garage next week to get serviced 😊 this is the email very helpful - I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

5w-40 engine oil | 5w40 oil

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Gulf Formula G, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

VW SPEC 504.00/507.00 is long life oil, it's designed to run extended service intervals up to 2 years and 20,000 miles.

Just because an oil does not meet 504.00/507.00 does not mean that it's not as good (or better) for your engine, it's just not up to the extended long life service intervals.

If you want to run up to 2 years and 20,000 miles between services then on yourself, most tuners & oil experts would tell you that long life servicing is not a good thing for a performance engine, ok maybe for a pure motorway cruncher but not a 300+ bhp performance engine regularly driven hard and running increased oil temperatures.

If you look on the Fuchs oil finder you will see that 5w40 is a recommended grade oil too, it offers more protection at increased running temps over 5w30, both offer the same cold start protection.

It's just my opinion but I stand by what I say, a tuned S3 producing upwards of 100+ bhp over standard, driven hard and regularly taken to redline will see far increased oil temps over standard, I'd suggest you really want to be picking more suitable oil and change it more regularly, the Millers and Fuchs Ester Synthetic Motorsport range being some of the best available.

It's not even like it's expensive, £50 twice a year for the life blood of your engine?

But hey, it's your car guys.....

Luckily for us Audi suggested we went along to a place in Aberdeen called TPS as we needed to buy a cam follower. They sold several different brands of oil. The Castrol edge was only £22 for 4L compared to Halfrauds £48. Bargain!!
