Strange rattling noise

On putting the car in the garage tonight I noticed a strange rattling type noise !
It happens between 2000-3000 rpm I revved it about 4 times, each time it did it, them as quick as it came it had gone.
Car was in Reverse 1st time I noticed it then I put it in P and it still made the same noise.

Will need to keep my eye on this..... God forbid another trip to an Audi dealer... I've never owned a car that spends so much time in dealerships!!!!

Could be time for a change to be honest even as good as the RS 3 is this noise did not sound good.

Hi Ben

It just sounds like it's coming from the engine bay.
I'm going to see if it does it again tomorrow, I'll have my phone set to record, hopefully will be able to capture it.

Thinking of a change because if this noise means another dealer visit I can't take the hassle associated with it.
May be time to part ways with the Audi brand, never had so many new car troubles from a supposed premium brand.

Can't see a heat shield just stop rattling all of a sudden though, just started it up this morning and no rattle......

I'll see what it's like when the missus arrives home in it tonight, I've told her to listen out for any strange noise.

UPDATE

It hasn't made 'that' noise again, however last night on starting it up to put it in the garage, it does seem to have a faint 'rattle' noise for a few seconds then it goes...... I am concerned, as doing a little bit of looking around on the internet there does seem to be an issue with oil pressure to the timing chain...... TTRS owners reporting a similar rattle noise.

Just been speaking to Audi and they say it had to make the noise in front of one of their technicians for them to investigate.
I've done some looking online and there is an update to help the chain rattle if that is what mine is.

I had a rattle which sounded like it was coming from the front but was actually coming from the o/s/r passenger floor well, the fuel line at idle was tapping against the body went away when you revved it, popped a bit of self adhesive foam in between not heard it since.
