F1 season 2014

He's probably thinking the same as the rest of us - Pot, Kettle, Nico.

Nico is on the back foot and playing mind games to try and put Hamilton off. I don't think it's working though Hamilton is letting the driving do the talking finishing 1'st in the first two practice sessions.
It was quite funny in the drivers brief with Alonso sitting next to Button when a reporter asked Alonso who he would like as a team mate next year at McLaren. Button hasn't lost his sense of humor with all the things going on around at the moment.

Who do you think will win this weekend?

Do you think Hamilton will settle for second place, if the two Mercedes are way out in front like Brazil?

Lewis would be wiser to follow Rosberg to the flag, even if he can pass. That way he'll be less likely to be forced into a race ending error by a pushing Rosberg - But that's probably not going to happen.

If both cars run well I think Hamilton will want to beat Rosberg to prove his point. Rosberg needs to back Lewis up into the following pack - it's going to be epic.

We know Lewis is going to make a move if he see's an opening, Nico will have too much to lose if he chooses to close the door in my opinion. They look mightily close in free practice though... :racer:

I hope Hamilton does a senna and teaches Rosberg a lesson on the first corner

So, it's Rosberg on pole. Good for the race tomorrow.

Brilliant question in the interview to Fernando :)

I think it will be Jenson and Alonso next year and Kevin will be the test driver mclaren would be stupid not to keep JB, apparantly half the board and boullier want to keep JB but it's Ron Dennis that wants to move him on

I think JB will be on a 1 year contract!

I also think if he wins or loses he will leave mclaren at the end of it to go to ferrari and finish his career there possibly as vettels team mate

JB manged a good job in quali , pity he couldn't get another 0.2 seconds out of it as he would have been further up the grid. Hopefully he will have a good race tomorrow and bring it home and he will get another year next year in what will hopefully be a very fast Mclaren Honda.
I think Alonso would probably prefer Magnussen as a team mate.

Karl.

Red Bull been excluded from qualiy for excessive front wing!
They will start from the back of the grid.

Just catching up on Saturday's Sky F1 coverage and found Martin Brundle's Interview with McLaren Boss Ron Dennis interesting.

Dennis, the man that brought Hamilton to F1, thinks Hamilton would win Today's race "in a straight fight" with Rosberg! For those that think Button is a better or equal driver: would he back Jenson if he were in the same position as Lewis is?

I seriously doubt it, what say you?

I think you are overthinking it.
Hamilton has beaten Rosberg pretty much every time when he was behind him and had no issues. That's why he would win straight fight.

Imo, Hamilton the better driver, and JB the cooler thinking driver, that’s the difference between the two drivers.

If you trying to compare Hamilton and JB… if both drivers were in the same position today…

Hamilton will go for the win, like he did in Brazil and lost it pushing hard at the pit stops, (when he didn’t need too) he was lucky he didn’t crash out.
JB may not get to the flag first, but will just pull out a gap from the Williams and just sit there.

So id give them equal chance in the same position
:)

So this is it, final race of the season, I can't wait already! I don't care if Lewis finishes second, so long as he brings the Championship home!! If he loses the championship today, he will still be the people's champion in my opinion, winning 10 races and not the championship would not do F1 as a sport any favours!

Now whilst I'm online and waiting, I've been reading and watching the McLaren/Ron Dennis interviews on who they are going to sign. Why wait til Dec 1st before making the decision?

My opinions on this is Alonso is in no hurry to sign a contract, and Honda-McLaren are testing their 2015 car in Abu Dhabi following the final race, so he wants to see the level of performance the car has before committing himself.
There is also another scenario that has played through my mind. If Lewis loses the championship, would he choose to leave Mercedes? Nico decided to sign a new contract mid season, but Lewis is waiting until the championship is over. Could the option of this happening mean that Ron Dennis may be able to resign Lewis for McLaren, and Alonso would sign for Mercedes? Which still leaves a question mark on whose taking the second seat at McLaren? Which I'm hoping is going to be Jensen.

There you go boys and girls, you heard it here first! :D

If we putting names in the hat for a Mercedes or McLaren drive.. “Robert Kubica”

Woohoo not long now… lets hope it’s a good and entertaining race!!

Go, Lewis! Bring it home!

And I really want to see JB on the grid next year.

Getting quite excited now, come on Lewis!

Definitely want to see Jenson in a top car next year. IMHO Massa is past his prime...

I thought Kubica still didn't have enough mobility to go single seater racing. I did hear he was considering another operation to improve things but I think it would be way to much of a gamble for next season.

I would love that, but it is unlikely that Kubica will ever be back to f1 due to his injury. He would need to have additional surgeries. He is focusing on rallying now.

Honda may not be able to have a topline Japanese driver but they could have a driver who has driven for them before and speaks very good Japanese and is very well liked in Japan. Jenson deserves another year in a car that can win races. Where did Kubica come from ???

Yes (assuming you mean JB and not Stevens!), would be good to see JB on the podium although having said Massa is past it he's doing well today...
Hahah, sorry, I forgot about Will Stevens. Mind you, I liked the way he peeked his nose back ahead of Alonso on the straight.

Is Massa past it, or is he just as good as he's always been; I.e. very good but not quite good enough?

Yes, funny to see the Caterham edging back past, even if it did get annihilated under braking!

As to Massa, I think he's become just a bit too fragile, for want of a better word.

I see what you mean; maybe it's a lingering legacy of the head injury a few years back.

I think ERS refers to the brake harvesting (kinetic) and turbo (heat) so I assume ERS refers to the system as a whole.
