This is the third car I've heard about members doing this or wanting to do it ! Remember the 255 should only be fitted to the 8.5j et53 alloys up front ,not on the 8j et50 rotors !

I was surprised when I heard some people run 245s on the front, 255s would just be stupid.

255's are awesome If you have the correct 8.5j et53 alloys though, thoroughly recommended:icon thumright:

I have the 8.5j et53 front rotors very nice alloys in the corners and sit perfect at the front , but I just can't get over members putting 255 tyres on 8.0j et50 Oem rotors !

Its surprising what a difference they make even on the Continentals. The 235's brake up a lot easier.

Hi john probally cause there lighter ,but I got lighter brakes to fit up front :thumbs up:

What brakes have you gone for I keep looking at them sick of the brake squeal.

1) Chop, chop, chop, and chop, under braking, John...:keule:

And what's this to do with 255/30's on an 8J rim?

2) REDSTUFF, Jmcnamee98: GO try 'em and 'IF' they don't stop the squeal I'll buy 'em off you - BUT you'll need to demonstrate to me that you've brake squeal with REDSTUFF... :3sadwalk:

How's that for REDSTUFF confidence?

I'll soon get fed up and go for one of the above brake solutions, quickly through them both or another 45btvc brake squeal solution.

But whilst my car has nearly 2 years warranty left and Audi so readily keep giving me new brakes with my usage it's almost worth the squeal!

Back to tyres and from the Continental Technical Tyre Data for passenger cars - Continental being the original Audi RS3 fitment

For a 225/35 R19 tyre the minimum 'recommended' rim width is 7.1/2J, and for a 235/35 R 19 tyre the minimum 'recommended' rim width is 8J:
Tyre Data Capture 225 35

And for a 255/30 R19 tyre the minimum 'recommended' rim width is 8.1/2J
Tyre Data Capture 255 30

As you know John its not just on RS3's that some people are fitting incorrect tyres and wheels to their cars, It's crazy they are more interested in how their car looks rather than the safety of themselves and other motorists on the road.

I've just checked mine and it seems the previous owner has done exactly this....255 30 19 on the front 8j rims.

Just about to order 235 35 19 for fronts.

Good news, get it back to STD. If you want 255/30's on the front (Audi option) then a pair of 8.1/2"J rims are a must.
