S1 order being placed today/tomorrow

thats not right , mine is great picks the keys up even from outside the car , great option imo
It's ok from outside it's just sometimes when I press the start button everything comes on but it does not start the engine

I have noticed that issue. Least I know I ain't going crazy @Ian
I just assumed that it was because the keys were in my trouser pocket and somehow blocking the signal when I sat down but my Clio never did it. Strange.

The car is going in for its body work so I will raise it with the dealer

I wear Jeans every day and the key is always in my Coin pocket on my right side. My Q5 and the S1 both start every time no issues. I actually have a co worker that has a Q5 also and he bought his in 2010 and just had to have the sensor replaced on the drivers door. With time I see it failing but not in its first few months.

Cheers Rob I will talk to the Audi dealer

Spoken to dealer and taking GAP off, removing wheels as an individual option and adding Quattro Exterior Pack adds only a few pounds onto the monthly payment, so final spec is as follows:

3 door
Sepang Blue
Quattro exterior pack
Privacy glass
S1 flat bottom steering wheel.

He's seeing what he can do in terms of delivery. He reckons worst case scenario September, but hopefully August.

Sounds nice Skiman!
The interior pack is nice but we couldn't stretch to that unfortunately!
Hopefully we get a decent delivery time as you have!

Sepang blue sportback a fine choice
Although mine is not such a high spec
I just have parking sensors and the flat bottomed wheel . You will love it.

Where are you based?

Ours is the 3 door, not the sportback.
We are in Staffordshire.

What's your favourite thing about the S1?

When I was on my test drive a few weeks ago, the dealer was telling me to hammer it round the corners to feel the Quattro... Was awesome!

Wow you were lucky, I put my foot down and the dealer nearly had a heart attack lol. It was like having a driving lesson

On our test drive my Mrs left her handbag (full of crap and unzipped as usual) on the back seat next to the Sales guy.

I hammered it around one bend and her handbag emptied its entire contents (loose change, boiled sweets, old receipts, dried up old pens, tissues etc etc etc) all over the back seat, floor and sales guy.

I think he gave me an extra 'carers allowance' discount afterwards ;)

Women eh.

so what wheels do you get ?

so what wheels do you get ?

As part of the Quattro exterior pack? You get the 18" alloys, but in Matt black rather than grey. You don't have to specify them seperatley if you have the pack (although you can de-select them if you wish)

Should the dealer be able to give us an order confirmation, or something confirming the order is placed with the factory?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the dealer doesn't have allocation as he is dodging us...

I havnt had anything like that from my dealer.
Had a follow up call from them last week confirming first week in August delivery.

Oh Ok, how long between you placing the order and them getting back to you with est. delivery date?

I placed my order and about 2/3 weeks after they rang me to confirm delivery date.

Around 3 months from the day I placed the order to delivery.

Update from Sales guy
"Waiting to hear from S/RS team for a date" sounds a bit fishy, have only asked him to confirm the order is actually placed with factory, a simple yes or no would do!

Its probably not fishy... I dont think my date is solid, but a rough estimate of when they are expecting delivery.

I phoned my dealer 4 weeks after ordering to check if there was any update and he was able to provide me with a build week of week 26.

I'm just waiting now lol - he has said end of June until the car is ready for me to pickup.. Might phone tomorrow to keep them on there toes

Definitely fishy - there is no "S/RS team". The S1 is built on the same production line as the A1, it's orders get accepted as if it was a 1.6TDI!

Sounds like they have used up their allocation of S1's last/this/next month and are holding you off until the factory allows them to place the order.

Exactly what I thought. I know they only get a certain allocation of cars like this per delaership, so I too think they have no allocation currently available and are playing for time. However, the sales guy has always said September worst case scenario, hopefully early August all being well.

I know there is not a separate production line for S models, however when I asked him if they can use a car already on order but change the spec, he did say that they cannot turn an A1 production slot into a S1 production slot (which would elude to the allocation problem).

Guess we're just going to have to keep hounding the sales guy until he either admits that he cannot place the order due to no allocation, or can confirm that the order has been placed with the factory.

I have just asked the dealer if he has a problem with allocation, or whether the order is placed and is just waiting for a build week. He says it is the latter, so fingers crossed....

The only other things to add to the mix which could create some of this delay, is the MY16 change which is week 22 (2 weeks time) always causes mayhem at the factory for build slots, and also, there was a fire at a sub contractor which makes door handles, so there are a load of cars completed at the factory waiting for handles!

Any idea what the MY16 changes will be, and would ours be a MY15 or MY16? (Does it depend on when the order is placed, or when it is built)?

Update, dealer says build week 31, meaning a September delivery. He says it may come forward if we're lucky but no guarantees. I don't think it can come forward once a build week is assigned though surely?

Once they lock the build week it won't change and if your lucky you might get it at the end of August if you ain't bothered about waiting a 65 plate. @ChrisS1

I don't know I was given week 9 2015 as a build week and mine was built December 2014

BW's move all the time until locked 2-3 weeks before it's actually built. 8/10 times the first BW you get will be ages away and sit there for a while then suddenly jump forward 2 months and get locked in a few weeks later. In your case it's not going to jump 2 months, but if this is the first BW the car has been given (it may be your dealer just hasn't told you about what it's had til now), it's likely to go forward a week or two.
