Gone and ordered a new toy...

So this is my 5th Audi in 6 years and most definitely going to be my last. I think I'm done with the 4 rings for now. Rather than list the reasons for why I dislike my S3 (which there are many) I know many of you love yours, and quite rightly too, so I don't want to cause an upset. I usually treat my cars like an addiction, can't get enough of them and find myself itching to just go for a drive. Sadly, none of the above applies with the S3 and to get it where I want it's looking at £5000+ which I just can't justify wasting.

So today I've ordered one of these...

5.0 V8 6 speed in Guard Metallic with Saddle brown leather. Fully loaded for £36k. Yes it's American, yes it will probably have interior plastics from a fiesta inside but I just can't get enough of that shape. Limited slip diff & a big V8 is good enough for me. Unfortunately the wait has been confirmed as 12 months, so I'm in the S3 for a little while longer. Will be selling the BBS at some point when the time is right.

Bravo! Great choice of car! I do love a fast ford and yes you'll get the people saying "oh but its not an Audi" and the brand snobbery, so long as you're happy. Who cares! Prior to my Audi I had a fast Fiesta ST limited edition thing. Everyone around me never saw what I liked in the car, yet they all rave about my Audi. But hands down the fiesta put a smile on my face every day. I would drive it for the sake of it. To me that's what owning a car is all about hope you enjoy and when it arrives I want plenty of pics.

My son lives/works in Dubai.

Has a 5ltr v8 Mustang. Cabin quality isnt too bad although the back seats are a waste of time! The engine and exhaust sound is epic....makes the S3 sound like a hairdryer....

Its a superb car for Dubai. Straight, smooth roads and cheap fuel - not so sure its a great car for the UK though!

If I could have waited longer to get out of my S3, the Mustang was my number one choice .. It's all about the fun, and I think one drive with the 5.0v8 would have given me more driving pleasure than I got from 12 months with my S3

It's still on my 'next car' list, maybe when I won't have to wait 12 months for one, I can see my keeping my hairdressers car for quite a long time though

Can you tell I am a Yorkshire Man..... road tax here in Ireland is 2,350 euro (£1,700 per year) which means you need to be super rich/mad to buy one

We get murdered out here on CO2 for vehicle registration. Anything over 180gr/km is charged at €2250 + €400 per additional gr/km.

Kinda curbs the enthusiasm for >200gr/km @ €2250+€400x20.... just to register the car

Looks stunning and £36k is even more stunning for a 5L V8.

I spec'd one out of Ford UK and if you put £13k deposit down the monthly payments are £261...incredible value even with a few options. The interior looks great as well.

.....wouldn't end well for the S3 I fear!!

Can't be many performance cars on the market that can match it bang for buck (if any?)

You never know with American cars, lots of noise and petrol drinking with little propulsion. I'll just wait until its wet before I try giving one a chase.

Being from Detroit originally these have a special place in my heart.

This is the first mustang in years that has raised my eyebrows. A blast to drive as well.

You will really enjoy it.

I have to say that my S3 is a real pleasure every time I am in it still however.

But these Mustangs are gorgeous and great to go fast in. Don't love the handling personally but not bad.

Bottom line you need to Love what you Drive. No matter what. I hope you do!

Cool car! No replacement for displacement as they say! However, I am going to go out on a limb and say that I don't think it would take 5k to get the S3 to be a more competent car than the Mustang. It probably already is around corners I would have thought. Im just talking out loud here I have done no reasearch lol.

The new gt350 is nice...but here in the states Ford reliability has a very stark contrast to Audi. That's why it was interesting that OP went with a mustang...

No idea about the tax. Probably top bracket though! My old TT was £495 a year so I see it as saving money with the S3!!
