Hi,

After losing out on a cancelled order by a matter of hours, I bit the bullet and went to order new. I have now had it confirmed by three dealers that Audi are not accepting orders on the A3 or RS3 at this time. This RS3 saga just gets better and better. I know I be been on here before but an 8 week wait and a fully loaded A45 discounted looks better by the day. I know about the 5th cylinder syndrome, but is it worth all of this bother..honestly?

I just parallel parked, and coincidentally the car waiting behind was an A45.
Once I was in the space enough he went round me with some vigour (I guess as he saw I was an RS3 and felt the need to let me know he was an A45!) and I immediately said to the Wife "That sounds so s***!". It honestly sounded like a Pug 205 GTI with a cherrybomb exhaust on the back, really very hollow compared to the RS3.

The A45 isn't a bad drive, but the cheap interior and lack of 5-pot noise/torque curve really do let it down IMO compared to the RS3. I know I'm going to struggle to let go of the RS3 in the future as it's unlikely any new 5-pots are in the pipeline to replace it in a few years :(

I would think most answers on this forum would be similar, and on a Benz forum they'd be saying it's a non-issue, but they are wrong ;)

Very interesting! Guess I won't be ordering one just yet then but it all confirms that the facelift RS3 will be here soon!!

Confirms what Audi UK told me. Looks like mine will be one of the last pre facelift off the production line, it's in assembly now...

I was really ****** off with finding out that there will be a facelift so soon after putting an order in to be honest but I have come to terms with it now. Feel bad for those that missed out but looks like you will get the facelift model once the book opens now :)

Guys just on an aside on this facelift thing. The latest M3 was given a facelift in July(basically a 3 series facelift).I bought one in Sept and the only difference was LED lights on the rear and a couple of minor interior trims.Nobody was interested in whether a car was pre or post facelift(LCI is the term BMW use). When I sold it nobody was bothered either(dealers didn't ask) so really it is a total non issue and people need to stop fretting about it as it will have sod all difference anyhow. If there is any power increase in the car I will eat my hat unless they charge a premium on it.
IMO

Don't get a RS3, you'll hate it.

TX.

Edit - you will not see a facelift RS3 in the UK this year no matter how many times you post it chaps ;)

Reckon there is a chance. I've heard any orders put in after BW22 will be facelift, A3 and RS3 alike. Audi know that they have peeved off people already and won't want to delay production again and risk losing customers to the Focus RS and A45.

I don't see those 2 cars as competition. Audi need to keep the RS cars reasonably exclusive so imho they will hold the RS3 back whilst they make the A3 and S3.

Unfortunately mate I think that RS's will become less and less exclusive as Audi seem to be looking at putting the badge on anything with 4 wheels in the future.

Hey TX I notice this is your response on almost every related thread. What's the scoop? Something read/told/felt/assumed/wished? As more indicators support contrary possibilities, this one liner starts to sound more and more like ying to asport's yang. ;)

I don't think we will see one this year either, if we do it will be November/December but for me that's a real long shot. Yes BW22 is the cut off but that for the entire A3/S3/RS3 line and probably more models too. Audi don't care if they pee off people, its part and parcel for them.

I see a fairly large gap in production in the RS3 now just like we have seen in other RS models. I hope for you guy's waiting to place an order that this isn't the case but let's be realistic here.

I think it's anyone's guess mate really. A little bit more information from Audi would be helpful to be fair, but after going so close to getting one I just want one now!!! Said in a spoilt kid kind of voice..

Totally agree. Any order for bw22 onwards will be the facelift. This was also the case with the RS6 as that got the facelift at the same time as the A6.

Facelift this year? Don't care! I'm collecting mine next Sunday. Wait until the back end of this year for some trim tweeks and get charged a premium for them if you want but I'll be enjoying my RS3 over the summer. Any case, I like the look of this model and facelifts are generally minor. Big power upgrade? No chance.

I agree mate. I love the current car and I just missed out on one. So my only option is the facelift now. With regards to the 'minor' changes, if it's anything like Merc did with the A45, which is why Audi need to make significant changes in my opinion to keep up ie power hike, transmission tweaks etc it'll be some machine. Time will tell but I don't expect it to be just a couple of changes as it needs to keep up with the likes of the A45 and the so called bhp bragging rights.....

Nice car but nice price
No way I would pay that for a used RS3

The A45 sounds every bit as good as the RS3 (shock horror and flame suit ready) the RS3 has a nice deep muscle car type growl but the performance exhaust on the A45 has far more character, if bigger engine is king I've had an M performance exhaust equipped M135i which according to many on here's formula of bigger engine is better should have pulled the A45's pants down for sound, it didn't the A45 sounded better IMO, the RS3 does hold the engine sound trump card for sure but many on here would have you believe it's like the C63 V8 or something lol. Interior again people who haven't lived with the A45 will call it cheap maybe, it's not it's well designed and the seats are fantastic way more supportive than the RS3 offering, the RS3 seems pretty sparse inside although some of the buttons are of higher quality for sure.
Go and find one to drive and stick it in sports mode and see what you think, I can see why some go for the RS3 all day long but I totally understand some going the other way also, i wouldn't take too much notice of biased opinions it's definately a match for the RS3

I dont think this FL order delays will turn potential customers towards the RS Focus......there is now officially a one year waiting list for them!

I think orders for the RS have not been helped by delays caused by problems with the rear diff, a I know at least two people that have had orders pushed back because of what ford called 'manufacturing issues'

Yawn... I am tired tonight loving driving my RS3 so much and don't give a stuff about new models, A45's .. Life's too short.. I plan to change in 2018/9 and who knows what will be happening then!

I took my girlfriends car into Audi this weekend and asked my dealer contact about this.

He confirmed that no more orders are being taken for the RS3. And there is no face lift planned on the RS model. He's an Audi Sport specialist so it's fairly good information.

He said it's the same story as when they released the 8P chassis - they are produced in low numbers, to remain exclusive. There was no face lift on that model when the new A3 chassis was released a year or two later - and once the run is sold, it's sold...

Except the 8P RS3 was always an end of model run (as all RS's used to be). Now the RS models are introduced MUCH earlier in the model lifecycle, so you can't compare what happen to the 8P to the 8V as Audi has had a big shift in their planning for RS models.

The other thing that doesn't quite fit is that we already know they're doing an 8V sedan next year.

Maybe, I'm just saying what he's saying - like I said, RS/R8 models are his specialism, so I would trust his judgement over others.

Being frank, his assumptions are based on very out of date information. Just because he has an RS Specialist badge doesn't mean he actually follows Audi and their press releases with any genuine interest - he just gets fed a 'special' line to regurgitate at you, just another salesman I'm afraid.
I'm really quite shocked he told you this is what he thought given the highly publicised paradigm shift in mentality from Audi/Quattro Gmbh around RS models.

He's got nothing to sell me though. Was just something I asked him to find out. Like I said, he's pretty knowledgeable and most certainly knows more than you, me and anyone else speculating on the forum.

Also the current RS6 got a facelift at the same time as the A6.
Surely if they did it on that car then the RS3 will follow suit.

I think if I could find a stock ordered unregistered current shape I'd go for it if it was to my spec. No doubt the facelift will bring with it even more exaggerated waiting times with zero discount. By the time I'd receive that car then the talk will be about the new shape A3. Current shape is stunning.

How about we all draw a line under this until Audi release some actually information? Up until that point its all speculation, which will cause agro between everyone.

Im over the moon with mine, and the release of a facelift isnt troubling me. I am however looking forward to see it, i just don't think it will look any better than the current one. But im willing to be proven wrong! And like has been mentioned a few times, the likely hood of a face lift appearing on the roads this year isnt very likely. But again, im willing to be proven wrong!

It wouldn't bother me either!
It's an awesome car and I wouldn't change mine for the world.
But yes, good points... and you are right.
The only information they have released is the face lift to the A3/S3.

Anyway to lighten the mood...I'm looking at a sepang one, black pack, gloss wheels, black mirrors and red callipers. Good choice?
