Yeah i forgot to make sure they were looking their best for the photo. Will try and remember next time lol

Much happier with how these fit to the rails. The A3 didn't have rails so relied on a foot sitting around the roof edge.
The A6 rails even have little holes for the bars to locate into :). No guessing how far apart the rails need to be :)

Cup holder was £17 odd from Ebay

Trim piece was just shy of £40 from the dealer!!!!!!!!
Do you know what the part number is for the trim? I just asked how much to retrofit and was told £162!!!

Had my fuel flab done under warranty although I hadn't noticed it wasn't working! Apparently it's an easy fix.

20 minutes apparently......thats at Audi though.

This will be done by the supplying garage who are not..........getting them to fix the MMI will be my biggest challenge I fear....I'm hoping to avoid using my missus as a threat (she works for Trading Standard)

I'm loving what you're doing to the car, although I think you might just inspire me start spending.....grrrrrr.....

Some great sensible money-saving tips and all-round nice good work though!!!

Ha forums are NOT the place to be if you want to save money :D

I've got a few things in mind which when added up cost a fortune :(

New rear discs and pads are first on the agenda; can get a set of Mintex for just over £100
Wheels need a refurb - £250ish??
Paintwork needs massive correction; got someone who can do it but looking at £400.....
I want to wrap the roof rails, window trims and front grill; the silver is a bit too bling for me!!
Might look into getting a set of winter wheels and tyres too :/

Spend, spend, spend!!

Careful on the winter wheels - I find the 45 profile on 18's pretty low (I've split 2 nearly new winter tyres), so I was looking for a set of 17's off a C7 A6 S-Line donor car (albeit a 2.0TDI).... but they wouldn't fit over the calipers on the TFSI... 18's are the smallest I could get!

what size are your front discs?? Mine are 345mm so 18's is probably the smallest I could go; currently on 19's anyway! Its either that or simply get some tyres and swap them evey year :/

No idea on the TFSI disc size... there's only a few mm clearance around the calipers on 18's... I will probably have to get 19's on the next set of summer tyres or another set of 18's... but I've split one summer tyre too.... Surrey country roads are hell, so probably going to stick with the 18's.

This turned up today

Poured it into the tank so see how we go. Not had any problems but prevention is easier than cure right??........

So the A6 is at the garage having the fuel flap repaired....

Asked what they are doing about the screen and was told 'we don't fix things that aren't broken'

I said 'it's faulty and therefore has to be fixed'

Reply was 'we will offer you a FULL REFUND on the car'

I'm like 'No. I like the car just fix the issue

'We won't fix something that isn't broken'

I said 'so what if it was an engine rattle that could lead to engine failure?'

'That's different as that could be catastrophic'

'So can the screen mechanism failing and the screen stuck in the dashboard'

Ended the conversation with wanting a call back as to when the fuel flap was fixed which I'm hopeful is this afternoon

My next step will be to get the screen looked at by Audi and an estimate for repair and send that to the garage for them to chew it over

:rage:What a complete waste of time that was.......

Picked the car up......fuel flap has NOT been fixed!! . They haven't even attempted to fix it!! Everything is as it left the factory........

They did **** all about the screen apart from lubricate the mechanism......

And my car was covered in industrial strength seagull poop!!! :rage::rage::rage::rage:

After a bit of a wait the cup holder cartridge arrived last week from the far east and so I got the screwdriver out and did the mod. Was a bit tricky at the bottom left hand corner but I found prising against the leather edge got enough purchase to flick the old trim piece out without putting any marks in the plastic or breaking anything.

Was a lot cheaper than the £140 being asked by the dealer.

Got mine a while back but haven't been in the UK to fit it or order the trim .... Kids are most unimpressed!

So today two things happened

1) brake pad warning flashed up

2) my best mpg on a run yet :)

ha ha... my version of that sort of run still starts with a 3!

I only count it at >20 miles, ideally 50+ miles... but even gentle motorway cruises, I've had a handful of 38.x, with a max of 39.3mpg average over 40+miles.... never cracked the big 4-0.... but annoyingly, the 39's have all had a few spirited bursts, so I'm sure 40mpg is possible, however boring it is :)

So yesterday's job was to replace the rear brakes as the warning light had come on. Also something had gotten inbetween the pad and disc and scored the surface :(

I would say it was a fairly straightforward job except that the 18mm bolts holding the bracket on were seized solid and required some improvisation with a breaker bar and a lump hammer to crack them off! Then we had to bash the discs off as there were rusted onto the hub..........

Tools you need for the job are
Jack and axle stands
VCDS - to disengage the pistons in the caliper
18mm socket for the two bolts holding the pad bracket on
13mm socket for the two bolts holding the caliper on

One tip I would suggest for those that have Quattro is to jack up both sides at the same time. This will allow you to rotate the disc should you need to smash it off

Didn't get any real pictures of the job as me and my mate were too busy swearing and bashing lol

I missed the bar at one point though....

Can see the scoring on the disc; ignore the dents. That was us hitting the disc to free it off the car!!

I actually think the wear sensor broke rather than the pads were too low

Old pads

New shiny brakes!

Good job. When I do this, I'm going to paint the disc hub as it looks so scabby once they start to rust. Can't see much from the photos, but the old pads look OK but the scoring is bad.

If we had more time I would have painted the hubs and calipers as I have the paint but we thought it best to get the important job done first lol

Pads had some life left but whatever got inbetween them and the disc did some level of damage :(
