When I put my car into reverse one of the front sensors has recently started constantly beeping as though there is an object there. I have made sure the sensor is clean and checked the cable in the back is clipped in which it appears to be.
Is it possible the sensor has failed and if so, is it easy to replace and is it a straight forward swap in and out or does it require coding etc?
Looking at the front of the car its the 2nd from left which is in the grey part of the grill and is not colour coded with the bumper.
My car is a A4 Avant S-Line.

I had this with mine, replaced it and no change. So I've given up. Let me know if you find a fix, thanks.

Do you know where I can get a part number for the sensor?

I just got one off ebay, didn't worry about part numbers, then colour coded it myself.

This is the sensor in question that I want a replacement for. I've looked on eBay but they appear to be different.
Anyone have a link to where I can get one the same?

Anyone?

The paint on that sensor is causing the problem. Mine has been the same over the last few weeks, except mine is the furthest out on the passenger side. I took a close look and the paint looked bubbled just like yours. I scraped the paint off with my nail, and it is back operating okay.

I will get round to properly rubbing it down and repainting in, but it just looks like a big stone chip on my white car!

Can someone give me some instructions on how to remove the sensor or at least that grey surround the sensor is mounted on? I've tried in vain to feel round the back and release it but cannot fathom how its held in place.

Usually the sensor frame is stuck to the front grille with a double sided foam sticky pad. If you hold the bracket towards the grille and push the sensor from the front it should pop out on the other side of the grille.
The problem is that if you want to replace it you will have to take off some of the paneling to expose the gap between the grille and the car.

Guide on removing an A4 grille here shows the process of removing what you need: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...rs4-grille-fitment-step-by-step-guide.209727/

Try and see if you can get to it properly if you only follow steps 1 and 2.

Have you tried scraping the paint off in the meantime? I will be surprised if that is not the issue!

I did think about doing that and maybe repainting/coating with laquer?

Nothing to lose if it's nor working at the moment. I'd even consider getting a tough up pen mixed to the colour then thinly recolouring

Mine had a clip to be released, access through fog light grill.
But like I said I changed mine and it's the same. Apparently I need to check the control box which is apparently in the boot somewhere? Good luck.

Mine does it occasionally as well, Mainly when it is raining.
It started after I fitted the honeycomb grille so I think I may need to Dremel a bit of it down.
