Facelift Post Pics Of Your Facelift RS3 8V In Here

Can you believe it? Three days I had it, three days! :(

Sorry I know this doesn't really belong in here but hey, figured I'd be first to post as well as first to mangle my FL RS3.

How the hell did that happen?

How the hell did that happen?

Some genius crossing the road where and when he wasn't supposed to basically. I had a green light so I just went through the intersection and he jumped out.

Cops found his phone in my windshield and I'm pretty sure I saw text messages pulled up on it when the cop asked if it was mine. SMH.

It's a bad part of town, people aren't exactly sober down there. I should have been looking for jaywalkers but it was a few blocks out from where you normally expect people to jump out on the road.

I was hoping I could get away with just a new windshield but there's a dent on the hood. The paint is fine but for whatever reason they say that panel needs a repaint. Factory Nardo lasted me a solid half a week, awesome.

Blimey! Hope you're having a strong drink tonight.

Wow. I did not expect to see this as the first picture in this thread.
Koofteh, sorry for you. I hope everything will be fixed and good as new. Definitively get that strong drink D0C offered.

S***! That sucks!! :( Really sorry to see that. I don't understand why it would need paint if it isn't damaged, a good paintless dent removal guy will get that out.

Wait, so is that the imprint of his body in your windshield? How did he get all the way up there without trashing the front of the car? Also, that had to be pretty traumatic. You okay?

Apparently because the hood/bonnet is aluminum? I'll ask a place that advertises dent repair but the body shop it's currently at said because it's aluminum.

I guess it is, but not much of an imprint due to the way this type of glass shatters. I would assume when a moving car hits a person they usually end up on the windshield due to the speed of the car, but yes I would have expected more damage to the bodywork.

He was thrown clear from my car, I didn't even know where he was until I saw people gathering to attend to him. So yes, definitely traumatic but I recovered pretty quickly. It could have been much worse, no internal bleeding for him and the car fared pretty okay too.

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I promise an actual photo of the RS3 when I have it back. :)

Thanks, doing okay.

He was conscious at the scene and the police said they had run a scan at the hospital and he would be okay. That's all I know.

Yes I got a courtesy car, it's a wonderful 2016 Hyundai. It's really making me rethink my decision to go Audi. :D

New windshield should be installed tonight or tomorrow morning, and I told them to hold off on dent repair until I do some homework.

Good idea, my Dad had his own business in paintless dent removal several years back before the trade went downhill. I will ask for his advice later.

IMO, it's better to give a PDR guy a shot because otherwise with paint they will just fill the bonnet full of filler and skim it over. If you get a PDR guy on it, even if he can't perfect it then you will have less filler. Or just argue for a new bonnet, what's insurance for afterall. It's a brand new car and filling a dent, is a substandard repair.

Right I've asked my Dad and he said it's correct that aluminium fails to hold its original shape when manipulated. He said PDR can improve it, but is rarely perfect but is worth an attempt to reduce the amount of filler.

But he agrees with me, a new bonnet should be warranted. But to sell the idea, try and tell them that a new bonnet painted will be cheaper than the man hours to repair this one. And then if it went wrong and had to be done again, it would definitely cost them more.

If you can ask him that would be brilliant.

Body shop says they already fixed the dent so there's no going back. She says no filler was used though, they just fix them somehow.

I am thinking PDR wasn't an option because the dent was bent outward and not inward like a typical dent.

New bonnet was mentioned but I guess insurance chose to repair it. I think they would have to paint the new bonnet anyway so it would still not be factory paint.

It's a decent shop and they really felt for me since it was a brand new car. I don't think they would like just to get more business.

If you are not happy with the bonnet repair don't accept it back from the repairer .
I am sure it will be brilliant though .

Got it back last night. Nothing cures the pain of a brand new car getting body work done but overall it was quick and they did a good job. I mean I can't tell it's been painted but experts usually tell right away.

I'm looking into detailing right now, pictures forthcoming.

Please be careful regards the newly painted bonnet, fresh paint needs to be left a while before using cleaning products on it.

My detailer says 2 weeks. I told him that I've once been told 3 months, he said all depends on conditions and whether it's baked in a booth etc but otherwise, 2 weeks is fine.

Huh, good to know, thanks. But it looks so dirty, they washed it but didn't dry it...

A gentle wash with a well diluted shampoo mix shouldn't hurt it. Its if you start on it with cutting compounds etc as the paint will not have hardened sufficiently yet.

You can wash it fine, just don't use any polishes / waxes for 2 weeks. If you use a detailer, tell them it has had recent paint!!

Not a plastic enclosed battery, there is no battery under the bonnet because it doesn't fit. It's in the boot..

Do you think we should limit members to a maximum of 10 posts per day?! :blahblah1:

Matt, you should have been a politician...you have an opinion on everything!

:yahoo:

I'm the exact opposite to a politician haha.
I wouldn't say I have an opinion on everything, just have a habit of refreshing this page too frequently :lmfao:

Got excited when I walked past the Audi garage near me and thought they were delivering some FLs... Probably just PFLs.

Ha, that's a great license plate!

White with aluminum optics, that's interesting.

Haha the other digits are scrubbed out in paint, an actual R 53 num plate would cost x10 the price of the car here.
Sorry to hear about your windshield and body damage. Nardo is also first choice for me, sick color.
