hi all, I have begun a double din conversion and have done the whole thing but my cage doesn’t seem to fit with my centre console.

It looks like the bit I’m pointing at is stopping it going in but I thought the single for double cage was a totally straight swap?

Any advice as I can’t seem to tease the console back in and I think this tabs are preventing it

hi yea should be i the only thing i trimed was the climate unit do you have the pdf guide to follow

Hey all, thanks for your replies. I did end up trimming it and the other little lugs that get in the way, think I made a good job of it too to be honest!

It’s all back in, everything bolted on and working, though my heater control panel needs modifying and it looks impossible...

It can be just do very little at a time otherwise you will take too much off

What would you say the best method would be? Hacksaw it modestly and then just skim it with a Stanley blade? Or sand it?

I need to do something quick, as I live in Scotland where it is always like 2 degrees and I have no heater or entertainment at the moment!

Sand it but might take a bit if time but will save any mistakes

Yeah spose you are right. Is a hell of a lot of sanding but will probably be glad I did when it has a smooth edge. Just not looking forward to it as my hands are in bits today from the console.

Modified it with a Stanley blade and a pair of wire cutters and my hand acted as a stop for the blade quite a few times!

Yea these jobs are time consuming but worth it in the end as it's all your own work if you don't take the time you'll take too much off as I did see pic on right hand side i took too much off its a case of little see how it fit till your hapoy with it .

Aw man, that is gutting! After seeing that I will probably sand it while in the car trying it in place every 10 seconds!

That's gutting though, looks nice apart from that.

My phone is being pretty annoying when I’m trying to reply. Saying that image sizes are too big, it’s not quoting and posting twice sometimes...

But yeah that is much appreciated. Would save making the same mistakes and then having to get a new unit. That’s the only option anyways so I suppose it is worth a go
