No i dare not ask, but I think you may need to take a chair to sit on while they tell you the price.:cower: saying that there was an S5 centre console on ebay with the leather trims fitted but they had french red stitching, mine has silver so thought it may clash.

That is an awesome little mod, I hate the fact the S & RS have leather knee rests and door card sections, should be the same in all of them!

Well I found out today that the centre console knee pad panel in Leatherette retail at £115 + Vat each

Yes A5 has plastic trims, S5 and RS5 same trims but covered in leather or alcantara both with red French stitching.
Regretting not doing the stitching on mine now.

Ok so I am getting privet messages wanting how to wire the auto hold kit, so thought i`d post it here.
I haven't done this before as it`s quite easy to get it wrong if your not that intimate with your cars wiring system:readit:
Please do this at your own risk:icon thumright:

THIS IS FOR AUTO HOLD KIT S-TRONIC
There are two kits available that I know of, I used the Kufatec one https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/r...assist-audi-a4-8w-a5-f5-automatic?action_ms=1
1 x AUTO HOLD SWITCH (at the time i did mine they did not offer RHD switch so I bought LHD from Audi)
1 x WIRING LOOM
1 x CODING DONGLE
no instructions!!!!!!

Auto hold switch plug has 6 pins(only 4 wires used)
pin 1 connects to control unit (j519)in passenger foot well connector B pin number 31 of 73 pin plug
pin 2 is ground
pin 3 connects to control unit (j519)in passenger foot well connector A pin number 17 of 73 pin plug
pin 4 connects to control unit (j519)in passinger foot well connector A pin number 32 of 73 pin plug

pins 1 and 3 do the Auto Hold switch on/off - canbus system
pin 4 lights up the switch when lighting is used ( please connect this to the correct pin as it uses a data signal to work ) it can also be connected to pin 5 of the 8pin electric handbrake connector if you want as it comes with no connector and has to be spliced.

Then you plug the coding dongle into ODB port takes about 30 seconds to do, don`t panic as it throws up lots of errors on the dash as it does its stuff

It all works as factory fitted, you will wonder how you drove without it.

Dave,

Thanks for the write up!

What interior panels must be removed to access the J519 module ?

I take it you disconnected the battery while splicing the wires?

Are the connectors labeled A/B with numbered pin outs or did you have a pin out diagram?

Thanks for your contribution to the community!

I removed the passenger lower trim and glovebox RHD car, I may be wrong but I think module J519 is still located in the same place on lHD cars, so that would be down on the drivers side.
I did disconnect the battery, when you get to J519 you will see the unit is labelled A&B not the plugs, I had no diagram just had to work it out from the tiny numbers on each wire.

Once you get to each 73 pin plug you need to release the tabs, slide the top cover off to reveal the pins, if you look closely on each inner plug it’s numbered at each end, you then need to count in to get to your pin locations.
A17 and B31 will be empty but A32 will already have a wire connection as it’s the main output for cabin lighting, this is the wire you need to splice/tap, the same circuit is available on the electric handbrake connector pin5 think its gray/blue wire. I connected mine at plug A.

This is a pic I found of unit J19

So is the rear most plug A or B?

On the empty pins B17 A31 is there an existing uncrimped pin to Crimp you wire to or did you need to supply your own?

Thanks for the picture!

Sorry not sure, the j519 unit has A & B stamped onto it, so you’ll see straight away.
There’s no info or diagrams anywhere that I could find, I should have taken pictures when I did mine.

The two wires A17 & B31 have factory pins already fitted just ready to push into the 73 pin plugs.
Ground has a hoop fitted.
Only wire you have to tap is the one for A32 as there’s no empty pin, I think from memory it’s grey/blue on both pin 5 of the electric handbrake plug and pin A32 down on j519
Hope this all makes sense

Good post mate, I fell lucky with this! After the test drive (and using it) I opted for it as an option, for some reason they gave it me for free!!!

Dave, thanks for the clarification, sorry about the typo.

So the handbrake switch that neighors the auto hold already has the appropriate Grey /blue wire for illumination data and can be spliced at the switch itself correct?

Excellent information and research Dave!

This is an excellent start to a A5 B9 diy thread.

yes it`s the only wire you need to splice just check the wire colour Gray/blue on mine,to be 100% put multi meter to ground and positive probe onto pin 5 light switch to on you may have to cover the light sensor to get them to work and its not 12v reading as its data but on/off a few times will give you a reading.
I spliced mine down at J519 as the wiring loom is pre made and wrapped in factory tape all cut to the appropriate lengths but it`s just a bit tight to get onto the wire, you may need to unravel the tape to get the wire you need.
The ground and this wire just light the auto hold switch up at night, the two others do the on/off auto hold

Got it thanks Dave, kufutec is preparing to ship I just got a comfirmation of payment.

Yeah I could probably put something together. It will be a few weeks till I install.

That’s fantastic, i didn’t take any pictures, bit sceptical it would work, as someone from Germany was saying the kufatec kit had wrecked his car, at the back of my mind I fitted not knowing i was going to krack it, and as the dash lit up like a Christmas tree whilst it did the coding my stress levels were at defcon five.
Turnd out he had wired it up wrong getting the pins mixed up in plugs A/B

Lol... I see the camera now, at first I just saw the blue connector with the coaxial cable and thought antenna.

I would like to retrofit the surround view cameras.

Great mod Audidave69 where did u get that from? was your rear view camera factory ?

My rear view is factory but they said it would work, but after installation it was set to work with aftermarket rear or front and rear cameras, i contacted them and they sent me some software to install that alters some perimeters, but now i`ve lost the front parking sensor graphic, i need to have another look at the software.

Cheers , how do you get on with the mods in respect to Audi warranty when you take the car into Audi ?

Not had my first service yet so fingers crossed.
This is my first mod using none genuine Audi parts but it’s all plug and play no wires to cut so if they kick off i’ll Just unplug it.
I suppose if something went wrong related to my mods then it’s my problem.

Have you thought about adding a TV tuner in? this is something which I want to do in the future

Out of interest where is the rear view camera module in the b9 the know on my old a5 coupe it was is the boot on the right

no its not on my list but you could add any input, TV or video you can program a steering wheel button long press and it switches to input video then long press again back to previous input.
I just wanted front camera to help with parking activated with front sensors.

I'd be interested to try this Dave, is it any good?

It’s behined the glovebox in B9, back of the MMI disc player.

Yes it’s better if you have no camera to start with.
I’ve had hard time getting it to work with my factory camera, but for you it would be great.
No wires to cut, plug & play, it uses can to know when your in reverse then switches to rear cam and you get the parking guide lines, graphics if you have parking sensors.
