Moving on to the dark side

So, the S4 was getting a bit long in the tooth and was needing few things done that were gonna cost me a chunk of change so I bit the bullet and went over to the dark side (on 2 fronts!)

New steed is a BMW 435d gran coupe.

Won’t deny I’m missing the old girl just now, the final drive down to York was a complete blast!. Still in the grieving process lol

I’ve just noticed that a dealership now has it up for sale for considerably more than I got trade in, which sticks in the throat a bit but at the same time, she needed about £2k spent so that’s lessened the blow somewhat!

Impressions of the new car are good tho, whilst it wouldn’t have seen which way the s4 had gone (S4 was stage 1 mapped), it has a very impressive turn of speed, is comfortable and doesn’t have quite the same drinking problem. The last Bmw lasted only a year before I traded in for an another ‘S’ car, hopefully this one will last longer!

If you don't mind sharing the issues it might help your fellow S4 owners know what might lie ahead? How old was the car? My plan is to try and keep my S4 for 8 years (you can all laugh at me when this doesn't happen ).

The car is a 2011 on a 60 plate
It had done (when I sold it) 65k.

Known Issues are:

1. Although it has full service history, it was due a major service and gearbox service.
2. There was an intermittent steering fault, every so often it would throw a fault but it would go away after driving 30 yards or so (car needed restarted) Indy figures it may be a wiring fault or middle steering rack fault but Because it was intermittent, they couldn’t diagnose.
3. Wheels are in need of a refurb due to sliding across the road on snow and hitting the kerb.
6. Front discs were getting very close to needing replaced.

I figured all in she’d have needed £2k spent to bring her back up to scratch (including servicing and brakes) I was already looking to move on (had her for 3.5 years) so decided to trade and go.

Thanks for sharing @bigyin. Good to see all but the mysterious steering issue are servicing or repair items. Enjoy the new car!

@scotty76 - I seem to recall I was going to keep my S4 for 5 years when I bought it ...
& you know what happened there! lol
