Q5 Our new 2011 Q5 2.0TDI S-Line Special Edition

Picked up genuine Audi Q5 roof bars this morning for the roof box locally on Gumtree. Couldn’t believe my luck and especially the price since they are £260 new. Owner had never even used them!

Trial for happens this afternoon.

Bet that will be one of your “cheaper” OEM purchases. I still have my set from 1st gen Q5 in shed, and only used once. Should sell them I suppose, but doubt would get more than £20-£50

@q5man they were £40 which I thought was a steal. Most on eBay seem to be going for £100 mark

Big updates to come but files are too large to upload as ASN won’t resize anything more than 2MB :(

I will update you all on the boat in the morning.

I’m currently in the Ciarngorms loving life! Wish I was in my S3 to be honest but I just love it here and think you’d have fun in any car!

Looks stunning. I drove through Glencoe last year and it looked similar. Drone camera shot?

Great photo, how did the roof bar wrap hold up to having the bars fitted?

Great work and hat of to you for the level of OEM mods you are doing - really improves the look.

I’m really tall

Lol yeah with my DJI Mavic Pro. Need more practice!

Hopefully ok but I’ll find out when I get home, if not I’ll maybe invest in proper OEM bars but second hand they still fetch £300. However, I don’t think you’ll get away from marks.

Thanks for the co,moments!

Sorry dumb question. Alternatives were a really long selfy stick, or up a tree

What a busy week. With plans to go to Scotland I had a lot of work on my hands.

With the addition of the wee Man to the family, we quickly realised that even due to the size of the Q5, we’d benefit from more room. I hate clutter in the car so it made sense to invest in a roof box, I love it!,

Once I got the roof box sorted it was to move onto the centre console to install the carbon trim. Full strip out job and very happy with the out come. Also go my facelift boot switch installed too.

Then onto the main event. We travelled from Belfast and got the boat to cairnryan. Drove to Glasgow to stay with my auntie for a day and night.

Then it was to head north to the Cairngorms to find the old military road at Blairgowrie and head towards Spittal of Glenshee and then Aboyne to our hotel.

What a drive. I have done this now a few times and I’ll never get tired of it. Wish I was in my S3 but I had a great time in the Q5. Both my wife and wee boy were very comfortable and glad they were not covered in luggage lol

Roll on the next trip

Thanks @q5man but I needed them straight away as I was leaving for Scotland next day!
I know. Funny isn't it, they have been sat in my shed for 3 years, going to chuck on ebay along with some other bits

Nice work again @Boydie. I wonder if the person you bought your Q5 from would recognise it without checking the VIN???

Couple more updates

In 2006 I bought registration AEZ 90 to put on my cars. To people in England/Scotland and Wales, this is a cherished number plate here in Northern Ireland. It just tells you what area the plate was originally registered. It has no meaning to me like my initials for example. I just like the plate:

1679 large default

A couple of examples!

So a few years ago I was given the opportunity to purchase AEZ 92 which I regrettably turned down as my wife preferred her current plate. I didn't want to make the same mistake twice when I found out it was for sale again so I snapped it up!

I will sneak it on later this month - better to ask forgiveness than seek permission lol

37BFE1FE AA2A 4EEC A00C 8FAE1580E754

So on the 25th of this month, the Q5 is getting a full correction detail and Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra Gloss ceramic coating as well as a full wheel refurb - I cannot wait for this! Will make my car washing life a lot easier!!

Once that is done, all that is left really is to get the 3.0 rear valence installed and new exhaust fabricated and fitted.

Revo should have a sale come the summer ready for our return trip to Scotland in July!

Nice plate, and some excellent models showing it off Good work on snapping up the 92 plate, love the asking for forgiveness vs. Permission.....SO true.

I need to get my Mythos Black Q5 coated, as a keeping clean is a real PITA, which I knew, but this was the one stipulation by the wife. Black or Black. I wanted Daytona...next time I will eat it and then ask for forgiveness

Rear badge arrived last week so all ready for the detail from the 25th May - cannot wait

Getting the rear bumper wrapped in a clear plastic sheet to protect it from shopping/prams/dogs etc... - going to be much easier to clean and maintain!!

Wow, you really are giving your wife’s Q5 some top treatment. Don’t neglect the S3 I have booked my Q5 in for full detail and ceramic on 14th June, can’t wait either

@q5man the Q5 didn't get a look in over the weekend, my S3 took priority lol

How is the dual branch exhaust coming along?

It has been put on hold due to the unforeseen purchase of a number plate and the detail being brought forward a month or so - once the detail is complete that will be next on the list!

Detail day!! :)

Cannot wait to drop the car off and count down the days until we get it back all spick and span!

To recap, its getting a full paint correction and then sealed with Gtechniq Ultra Gloss ceramic coating. While it is with the guys at PMG Autocare in Belfast, the wheels are coming off and being refurbed by Powdertek

As said, cannot wait to get it back some time next week!

Bit late now but did you consider taking the rear and side badges off ?
Your car looks really nice and the number plates are cool.

Looking very tidy already, even before wheels have been done

The Q5 and TDI Quattro badges have been removed but keeping the Audi and S-Line badges on. They have been removed for the detail and new badges added.

Unfortunately due to sickness with the refurb guy, the wheels were not done :( will have to arrange another time! Picking the car up tomorrow

You can literally see your future in the reflection - to say I’m pleased is an understatement.

My wife drove it home yesterday and to see it rolling on ahead was class. Love this Q5.
