Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 rim protection vs 2

Anyone know how it compares with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (which are somewhat more expensive now)? The 2 seemed to be the best of all the main brands in the respect of rim protection (and they've maintained in the low noise levels in the 3).

Absolutely awful. The Asy2's used to provide really good rim protection but the 3's barely provide any, they're essentially parrallel with the wheel. I've already curbed one side of mine and now need a diamond cut refurb.. F'in annoying.

How about the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2? They look to have good rim protection and almost as low noise

Not tried those, but my next tyres are going to be Michelin Supersports, a lot of the guys here rave about them.

I’m using PS3 and PS4 on my S3 and M5, they both provide decent amount of rim protection, but the latest P-Zero is crazy in terms of rim protection, it’s pretty insane... performance... not so much, anyway, it all comes down to what balance you can accept...

I have the assymetric 3's on at the moment and another set in the garage with assymetric 2's on, they are both the same in terms of rim protection. Nothing like those pirelli's mind but perfectly acceptable to me and I do park a foot away from the kerb anyway

They have good rim protection, last week I had 4 RT 2’s put on. Was £90 a tyre with black circles.

What do you make of the RT 2’s

They seem to be better than the RT1’s they have replaced. Grips good enough and they are fairly quiet. My car spends most the time on the motorway so perfect for that.

Thanks all - great photos. I'd not been able to find any pages for tyres currently available in the UK with good rim protection by doing a Google search (only a few from outside the UK with tyres not available here). Maybe this page would be useful as a sticky in the forum, esp if it gets added to/maintained?

I’m amazed at how many posts I read about kerbed wheels, it’s almost a daily read on here. I’m either very very lucky or just an amazing driver.

Buying tyres with rim protection has never even occurred to me.

I’ll probably get some abuse for this but nevermind, I just can’t believe how common this seems to be.
