My A5 Small improvements

@RaZ A4 Do you have sportback or Coupe as the trim is different? Do you have extended lighting or exit warning too for the light fibres?

You have to be careful treading the fibres in to the door card too, I have to replace the one on my rear door as they broke the exit warning fibre off in the factory and left it as it wasn't a factory option but I have now added it.

Cheers, Andy
Hi Andy you added the wrong person RAZ A4 is someone else, lol
mine is an A4 B9 so im guessing it would be the same as the sportback?
im looking to get the extended lighting somehow someday

Hi Andy Cheers for that, you see above 12 in the picture ( 13 light fibre strip ) doesn't show a part number for this so im guessing it comes with one of the part numbers for 12?

Hiya, yes the squiggly bit in front of the 12 shows they are included with that bit.

You can't actually buy them separate as they are sonic welded in, shame as one of them in my rear door was damaged from factory.

No Replacement Part

First you need to remove air bag, that gives you access to the 2 wiring connectors, before you touch these disconnect battery first and give it 15 mins.
Steering wheel is held on with 1 x torx nut, then 2 x torx facing you and one under the cowle.
Cowle top and bottom can then be removed to get at steering wheel stalks, it has 1 x connector and jubilee type ring around steering column shaft 1 x Allen key holding it in place.
Then it should slide off towards you.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dave. How does the air bag come off?

Its not the easiest thing to remove, if you have push start you need to keep power to move steering wheel to 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock to release the two spring loaded clips.
This video shows how the clips work.

After you have released it drop the windows slightly and disconnect battery then give it ten mins before you disconnect the two connectors.

Yes exactly the same for flat bottoms wheel with round airbag.
This is mine

thanks Dave, ill have a go in the morning :) got the stalk ready

Dave did you do the steering angle calibration yourself?

No it’s a Vcds thing unfortunately, I only have OBDeleven so had take it to be calibrated.
What part of the country you from?

I have vcds. Just can’t find the calibration instructions for the b9. Who did yours?

4G0 052 130a - Anyone fitted the puddle lights, just wondered if this was the correct part no?

Yeah that's the one, just trying to find out the part number as there a few different variants on ebay!

Put in a parts request however they don’t normally give you the part number maybe you can ask if it fits?

i've done the wiring and fitted the switch into the door for memory seats, not just trying to find the relevant coding to get it programmed up :) i have VCDS which i'd rather use but do have OBD11 too

How did you wire up the memory switch?

Coding
Seat control unit drivers side 36
Byte 2 bit 0-1 This is MMI part (This should now make easy entry work)
Long coding p_button_memory This is to turn on switch.
Long coding p_button_location change to internal This activates memory part of switch.
Long coding acoustic_feedback_if_stored This makes it Beep when you store each position

Wiring
pin 1 of connection plug to memory seat switch goes to pin 17 on control unit J386 mounted in drivers door
pin 2 of connection plug to memory seat switch goes to pin 15 on control unit J386
pin 3 of connection plug to memory seat switch goes to pin 19 on control unit J386
pin 4 ground, I used pin 1 of Drivers lock button brown wire This need`s to be spliced and soldered.
pin 5 depends on year of car, so it could be pin 1 or pin 4 on control unit J386 it will already have Blue/Brown wire, so again it needs splicing and soldering

Wow! How much were they Dave? I’ve wanted the red ones in mine for ages

I got them very cheap as there original owner didn’t want them, I paid £1100 for front, rear seats and door arm rests x 4 in rotor grey.
The only problem is all the wiring was identical apart from 2 x missing wires, once connected the seats sprung to life massage works and seat bolsters fill with air and deflate as you open door, but I’m missing some coding for the MMI as can’t change seat setting on massage and lumbar.

Struck gold there mate!

You still not got them sorted Dave? Your as bad as me!

No the MMI part has got me beat, but there usable for now, as you know I just can’t fine tune them:)
I’m sure between us it will get sorted;)

I see you have a 12V outlet in the armrest thought that was just a American thing
Do you also have one in the front console?

Yes, two in center console and one in the boot.
It has the phone charging thing if that makes a difference but I never use it as I think Audi got muddled up with my car and fitted a hot plate, if I try charge my phone it super heats it to 5000 c it’s like driving round with a pice of chernobyl in the car.

Do you also have one for the rear seats too?
I have the Wireless charging phone box and I thought that removed the 12V socket from the armrest.
I have replaced my rear dummy cover with an absolutely flush dual usb. I now understand that the 2019 models have the rear usb as standard. The 2018 appear to have them as optional extras.

Yes I forgot about the one in the rear, but I definitely have the 12v socket in the armrest next to wireless charger, I think Audi fitted me this so I can plug a fan in to keep my phone from catching fire while changing :)

Original rear dual usb and 12v :)

Partnumbers:

5Q0035726L dual usb
8W5943324A faceplate

These should be correct.

managed to acquire some door cards with the Extended LED Interior Lighting for my A4. They all have black LED light modules.
they where connected to the same door control modules as i have on my car 8WO959593A.
my car doesnt have side assist or extended lighting i just have the standard Sline LED Interior Lighting Pack.

is there a way to code them to work in colour? or worst case scenario to have them working at least in white

thoughts guys please?
