Map Updates

Little bit of help please, downloaded the new map updates, copied to a SD card exfat formatted, placed in slot sd 1 went to the update MMI settings selected sd1, it searches then comes back with media does not contain an update or something like that..
Am I doing something wrong ?

Downloaded on a Mac? Might be the hidden macOS system files causing issues.

When I done mine I formatted my sd fat32
I had difficulty in getting the download to start but that was cause my Java wasn’t up to date.
But when I installed in the car and chose the sd slot it worked perfectly.

I downloaded the latest maps today directly from the MMI on my Facelift using the online function, nice and easy.

i had the same problem with maps not being recognised as valid updates - i tried 3 times last month

this month, i downloaded again and suddently the car recognised and took the map update. same pc, same sd card so maybe audi have fixed something on the map download

Where do you get the download from? Have you got a link

you need to create an account then register your car/vin to see available map updates
then choose vehicle details, then features and scroll down to see map updates

Hi mate, apologies as I cannot load the full images, but from the thumbnails it looks like you have just downloaded the South Region and not full map update? was this through choice? and how long did it take? I heard the full UK update was about 4gb?

Yes you are correct, I downloaded England - Southern Region by choice (I live on the South Coast). Using the On line Method the only options are : another Country or England South or England North, this is probably due to the data limit imposed on the embedded SIM.
Using myAudi website to update maps, full Europe is about 13.0GB and the UK map which includes Northern Ireland and Iceland is approx. 800MB.

How does this work if you only upgrade with a specific region, i.e. southern England? I've never updated my maps, so I presume when the car is brand new, it comes with the FULL European maps?

If you then update with a specific region only, does it just update the maps for that region and leave the rest of Europe on the old version? Or if you update with a specific region, do you literally only have nav for that region and if I was to travel to the north of the UK say, I would not have any nav available?

Probably a silly question but I've always wondered how it works and if I'm honest, it's for this reason that I have not performed an update before.

Apologies for the delay in replying but in order to solve your uncertainty and to some extent mine, with map updates, I've done the following:

1. Updated to the latest maps using the MMI online method (England South)
2. Updated to the latest maps, downloading from the MyAudi Website (United Kingdom + N.Ireland)
3. Updated to the latest maps, downloading from the MyAudi Website (Europe)

So, to answer your queries :
a. I think we can say that the Full Europe map is loaded to the car from new.
b. When updating from the MMI or downloading from the Website, the Countries and Regions that are not included in the update are still retained and will always be available, although now become the Old Version. ***see image 9***
c. When downloading the Full Europe map the data base is fully over written. ***see image 10***
