There's not that much B9(F5) content so I thought I'd start a thread on mine. I've had the car from new since 1st of March last year. Managed 20% off a new, unregistered car in UK stock. Since collecting it I've made a few changes.
Spec:
Daytona Grey with black leather and Rock grey stitching.
Factory Options:
Piano Black inlays
Sunroof
Memory Seats & Mirrors
RS Sports Exhaust
Black Styling Pack
20" polished face optional alloys
Carbon Wing Mirrors
Traffic Sign Recognition
Panoramic Roof
Top Speed Restriction increased to 174mph
Comfort & Sound Pack
Matrix LED Headlights
Extended LED interior Lighting Pack
Privacy Glass
Reversing Camera
My additions:
Original Audi Accessory Smoked Tail Lights
Love these and think they really go well with the Daytona paint
20" Veemann VC03 in Gloss Black with 12" TPI Wheel Spacers
Never been one for black wheels but I really like how these look on the car. I still like the OEM wheel and have kept these so I can chop & change as the mood takes me.
Complete OEM Gloss Black emblem package
Courtesy of @creweaudiparts. I'm surprised that it's taken Audi so long to produce these themselves. I wasn't sure at first but I think the RS5 grill is a little crowded and the black emblems offset this. They work well with my black theme as well. After seeing photos on the new R8 with the badges in black and discovering that the RS5 grill emblem was available that was enough to persuade me to go for it and I'm glad I did.
Retrofitted drivers side storage compartment (below the light switch)
Again got the parts from Tom @ Crewe Audi. Just a new lower dash cowl and the storage cubby. I'm used to having this and was dissapointed to find the A5 doesnt come with it as standard. Takes about half an hour tops to swap them over and the cost was about £150.
Fitted Audi UTR dashcam
I'm disappointed with this to be honest. If I were doing it again I would go with one of the prominent third party brands. The app is pretty rubbish and the videos are 1 minute long. With no PC software for it you're stuck with using VLC player.
Retrofitted Park-Assist automatic parking
This is in interesting one. All thats needed is 4 extra parking sensors, some extra cables and a new switchbar with the right button on it. Some coding with OBDEleven/VCDS and you're good to go. Front and rear bumpers need to come off but this is a relevatively cheap mod at only a couple of hundred quid. It's not something I use often but its great to have. Thanks to @Audidave69 for his help on this.
Painted calipers from glass black to gloss red
The standard calipers get lost in the arches in black. Red works muck better in my opinion.
KW Variant 3 coilovers fitted
After getting the wheels the car really needed to come down a bit but I was hesitant to do this. I had H&R springs on my old B8 A5 and hated them. The suspension creaked a lot. After a few recomendations I decided to do it properly and got the KWs. They were professionally fitted by a local rally specialist who set them up and aligned all the geometry afterwards. Having never had coilovers before I was amazed at the difference in handling. The car feels like it's on rails now. It's lower but just as comfortable as standard.
Retrofitted door-open lights (car has red reflectors as standard)
Minor mod this. Just bought them from AliExpress and took a feed from the puddle lights. Bought some LED boards to replace the bulbs for a more modern look.
TCU Gearbox tune
I've had this for a while now and have come to the conclusion that its not worth the money. The difference is so negligible and has very little impact on the speed of gear changes that its barely noticeable.
Sweeping Mirror Indicators
Got these from AliExpress. They work in time with the sweeping front indicators in the Matrix LED headlights and are much brighter than the OEM fibre-optic style ones.
Thoughts on the car
I lament the loss of sound that comes with turbo-charged engines and so, this car isn't as sonorous as previous machines I've owned but it is the fastest car I've owned to-date and with AWD it's easy to have fun without worrying about breaking traction when you don't espect it. It's a very easy car to live with and I personally can't see beyond 4wd performance moving forward.
If anyone is thinking of buying one of these or doing any similar mods, post your questions below and I'll help as much as I can. Here's some photos:
