Just traded my A3 in for a newer A3 facelift, it’s got Sat-Nav but appears the card has been nicked, but I have the case the sd was in so know what year maps it was. So if I purchase the same year card off say eBay will it just work because it’s already active and has had that yr map data codes added to the MMi?

or with it being MIB-HS and having Audi Connect will I be able to download the map data onto my own card once I’ve registered it with MyAudi?

Cars with Audi connect is the mmi high which doesn’t use sdcards for maps. It has an internal hard drive.

It’s got an empty sd pack in the glove compartment but the actual sd is missing, when you click nav it says nav data unavailable

Will it just be a case of adding the code my MyAudi app to sync the car to my account and I’ll be able to download the map through that?

never had that problem before. On my 3rd car with Audi connect and the mmi high.
Unless they made the a3/s3 with the mmi low and Audi connect.
I would try registering in myaudi and see what options the car came out the factory with.
Think UK spec cars needed the tech pack for the version with Audi connect and that also came with the virtual cockpit

You have MIB2 HS (Scale), which sits in-between the Standard (MIB2 STD - SD Nav) and the High (Technology Pack). Your system is SD Card based navigation but also has a SIM card slot.

So based on that, would a card of the year mine is keyed to decrypt work? Or are the sd’s individually coded to the car?

A thankyou would probably also help :)

If you have the SD Card sleeve then purchasing the same part number, printed on said sleeve, should work.
Cheers Alix , what part of the country are you based? As I’m going to need an expert for some coding in the future, I’d rather pay someone on forum than a garage :p

The part number of the card is
8w0919866c

which I cant find any second hand :( if someone was to upload the contents of said part number could I just copy it onto another SD card because my car has the licence to decrypt this version of the maps? I reckon this is gunna end up costing me the £500 I was quoted to update the sat nav of my previous car

Don't work like that unfortunately.

You said you traded the car im. Why not go back to the garage, it'd down to them to sort out.

it will be 250 for new maps from Audi. That includes them pairing the card to the mmi. Just do that,no point in getting old maps.

Hi Alix my licence on unit is 2500016, i've read that all units come with 5 free updates (basically 2 1/2) years, so would that mean that I could buy for example a 2018 card for MIB-HS and my headunit is already coded to accept?

I'm not paying my robbing Audi dealership £500 which is want they want to supply and fit the latest card, and to be honest i'm getting on fine with Apple CarPlay for google maps (a tad annoying it has to be wired & fact it uses my data) but its so annoying that the headunit complains ive removed the map media every time I start the car

On another forum i've read about people altering the licence to be unlimited, have read people can (remotely via TV) patch your head unit (for a cost obviously) but not sure i'd feel comfortable with that, could be costly if they balls something up

I believe you have MIB-HS which uses a non updatable SD card. Want new maps? You need to buy a new card and have it activated. Only Technology Pack MIBx "High" systems have updates available via downloads.

Again, not valid for your MIB unit. Need MIBx High.

It sucks. I am on 2014 MIB-S and they want to charge me 400Euros for update map. Still no solution for someone to crack the system :-(

what country are you in? i got a quote of 280e for the Sd card and activation in Portugal. My dad got nearly the same in France. I eventually got my sat nav function activated and also the new SD card for 500 swiss francs which is around 470euros.

@Ormesome I am in Croatia. They are tooo expensive. Don't know what to do. I don't want to give them 400euros and they told me that the latest maps are even from 2018.

And I know that I need to buy a new SD card and activate it is the only solution for now...but this for now is taking like 7 years :blownose:

Well bit the bullet and booked my car in at my local Audi, it's £220 for the card and £109 for them to fit it, lady reckons its got 5 free updates that download automatically? so we'll see

Just checked, the part number they have ordered is 2019/2020, there is a part number for 2021 so going to ring them tomorrow and get them to change the order

2021 for MIB-HS is 8W0060867AP

Well my audi dealer is saying the 2021 is not compatible with my car, honestly have no faith in them whatsoever!

Try a different dealer, they are all shitehawks, but try to find one who is less so!

8W0 060 867:

AT = 2021/2022 Navigation data SD Card. not available as yet.
AP = 2021 Navigation data SD Card. Is available to order.
AK = 2020/20201 Navigation date SD card. Is available to order.

No updates included as there is no way to update the SD card.

Agreed. I use Google Maps, as it happens. Heck, you could even buy a new/extra phone and data contract just to run your maps app in the car for less than the Audi maps on a SD card! On Android I also use AmiGo (free from TomTom) to give me advance warnings of speed cameras on my phone, if I'm actually speeding. Also check out this for a neat installation https://www.audiphoneholder.com/

And I found the Audi MMI/SD system gives the most bizzare routes too frequently, wereas the free Waze or Google Maps are far better and will also route around current traffic dynamically and you get upto date maps always. Because I happen to have the Audi MMI/SD based maps, I use it sometimes to show an overview of a longer journey (according to Audi) just for the benefit of passengers who can see it and want to answer the 'are we nearly there yet?' question themselves ;-)

I know it's irritating to have a Nav button in the car that doesn't do anything useful, but when it does bring the (SD at least) maps up, the functionality really isn't there these days. Given the choice I would now always go the Carplay/Android Auto way or use my phone directly...
