Next model A3

Pricing and configuration is live in Audi.co.uk now . Limited models for the moment but apparently Edition 1 and Vorsprung models to be announced in the coming weeks .

Meanwhile couldn't help myself, configured a 2.0 TDI S-tronic with comfort and sounds pack. Mythos Black. Now what to do with the existing car finance

I wouldn't be a first adopter of any new car mate....pay through the nose for it, plus there's the mandatory build quality gremlins etc etc

Being honest mate I'm just toying with ideas at the moment . We still really want an S3 Sportback so may well wait . Pretty sure there will be some pretty tasty used S3's up for grabs soon enough.

Also got current finance to consider . 3 years left on that though I'm not totally against VT'ing in six months . Go down like a lead balloon but then it wasn't the best deal to begin with .

Need to give it a lot of thought but I it's a toughie....... New A3 Sportback is stunning High spec use S3 Sportback also very tempting........ Decisions decisions.

It's nice to see that the last posts have got back to what this thread is supposed to be ie The Next A3 rather than a general discussion on the future of cars.

VT'ing has become so so common @Scotty75, nd easy enough way to get out of car at halfway point

And like the rest of the Mazda offering, they’re light. No excess baggage there... Mazda may be derided for producing not quite premium cars with sub-sporting levels of power, but there’s more dynamism, fun, feel, and importantly, fun, built into one of Mazda’s wheel nuts than is currently encased in entire chassis of many of the German offerings.

In fact, while Im in the mood for a rant at modern car failings, Audi, BMW, Mercedes et al could learn an awful lot if they stopped benchmarking each other so much (which seems only to lead to a slightly incestuous arms race to see who can cram the most screens, LED’s, and semi functional tech into an ever taller, more overweight chassis that’s big on power and low on fun), and take a look at what the lower marques, especially the Koreans and Japanese, are up to. Mazda’s MX5, despite it’s girls car hairdressing reputation has a chassis that is sublime. You’ll learn more about chassis dynamics and actual driving in one weekend with an MX5 than you’ll learn in 3 years with an S3. Fords Fiesta ST is unbelievable, and Hyundai have a mid engined awd hot hatch in the works. The new Toyota Yaris GR is a turbocharged hatch with a proper 4WD system that harks back to the good old days of homolgation specials like the Celica GT-Four, the Escort RS Cosworth, the Sunny GTi-R, and all the other cars that still give me a slight limp 3 decades after watching them demolish forest stages on the RAC rally.

We need more fun and less weight in these cars. Not more screens, body creases that even Chris Bangle would have thought over the top, and ‘Lamborghini inspired” vents. Lamborghini inspired? WTAF?

Couldn’t agree more, a Mazda wouldn’t have been a consideration a few years back, was a bit of a brand snob but after one test drive I was hooked.

I love driving it, It’s so engaging and gets you thinking rather than slamming foot to floor and letting the car do all the work like I would in the S3.

yeah but no exhaust so classic old-ish style racing ends? or is it electric or hybrid?

Do you think the RS version will have the same exhaust as the bog standard A3 in the video??

Funny how many non-Audi drivers think Audi drivers are plums but S3 owners see RS owners in the same way.

I don't mind Audi drivers at all, it Range Rovers I can't stand!

Well it must be true then. All people who choose to spend more money on a performance car than the next man, and then have the sheer audacity to drive it fast are obviously complete tossers in all aspects of life...

EXACTLY u got it right .. So so many RR naive naively think they can outperform even mine A3 tdi 184 quattro ..
I only shake head when I disappear in front of them... Of course there are RR which has 4 exhausts pipes those are fast but not many
Even some seat tried and loose

I know that and you know that but Peto doesn't seem to...
I don't care about some RS .. So now I can already see that ppl come here which all want tracing audi cheaper with exhausts, so absolutely not gonna buy this standard audi a3 without exhausts
And don't you naively think everybody gonna start buying S'es or even RS'es so expensive just becuse u have money u can .. only you and few.. clap clap .. aah pathetic u are
Many incl me will stick with BEST 2013- 2019 shape and will get cheaper
I will be buying S 2016-2017 when price will be adequate

Might just look like a 2.0TDI just like the current RS3 does. Audi do do subtle on the A3 a bit too subtle.

But just like the current S3, I think the new S3 with 333 bhp will be the sweet spot in the A3 range. But it ain't going to be cheap.

There are a couple round here, and if you didn't `know` is was an RS3, you'd never know. And there is a Blue one in poverty spec, that really does look bland.

You'd never mistake an RS6 or RS4 for anything less than what they are. My GF knows very little about cars (but learning fast) and even she can point out an RS6 from the run of the mill stuff. She's never guess an RS3 just by it driving past.

Black ops looks superb.

I'm guessing this is the black edition yet to be released? Also take it that this is Turbo blue. Kinda shot themselves in the foot a bit is looks very similar to Voodoo.

How have they shot themselves in the foot?
Could that be an S3?

Agree with this. Girlfriend is the same. Anything above the A4 she knows the models, not so much on the ones below. They defo diluted the S/RS branding on the smaller models in the Audi range. All about the styling packs now. The sport models are the ones that bring in the money so aiming the styling packs at that model to make it look beefier brings in good money for Audi. Makes sense economically, brand/model exclusivity not so much.

No don't think it's the S3. There is no difference to the front bumper from the S-Line model. I was referring to the fact of how close that Turbo blue (if it is indeed turbo blue, in the picture) resembles Voodoo blue.

They often do this (filter colours down) Nardo, Daytona for example used to be RS only

Maybe they have some new colours planned for the S3? Makes sense given it's a new model.
