Anyone ever had their alarm randomly go off?

Whenever my cars locked it goes off within a couple of minutes, but the hazards don’t flash!

Luckily it’s locked in a garage over night but I can’t use it to go anywhere I need to get out and leave it parked up!

There is a battery in the alarm siren which has around a 10 year life. When it goes flat it leaks battery acid over the circuit board and causes the alarm to go off.

Replacing the siren fixes the problem. I do f suppose it is around a 2010 model?

Cheers pal, u don’t know where the siren is do you? And how much they cost?

See the other thread someone posted. All info is there. I think they are about £170 new. You can pick them up cheaper second hand but you risk it also being faulty.

Find it, unclip it and then yeet it in the bin, personally I wouldn't bother replacing it as it's about as much of a deterrent as leaving a very small fluffy bunny to fend off would be criminal :tearsofjoy:

I forgot about the alarm situation earlier and locked the car, the alarm went off a minute later and wouldn’t turn off! I tried pressing the buttons on the key, ignition on, started the car etc and nothing would stop it. I ended up disconnecting the battery and it still ran on for a couple of minutes. The indicators were flashing as well though this time which is odd. If I take the siren out and bin it off the alarm will still go off without making a noise and just flatten my battery!

Are you sure about this?

If it is the circuitry in the siren setting it off, disconnecting should stop it going off.

Didn’t realise it had the controls for the alarm in the siren, in that case I’ll give it a go. Other than that I wonder if it’s possible to have the alarm coded out so I can leave it in place in case it’s something else and I can put it back on at a later date?

Looks like alarm is in comfort module 46
byte 1
Bit 1 toggle on or off anti theft alarm
There are a few other bits in that same byte 1 for the alarm types and various options

Also in adaptations
Channels 14 and 15 seem to allow adjustment of the interior monitor sensitivity and 21 sets vehicle model (cabriolet, Avant etc) for the monitoring.
