What have you planned to do to your A4 B7.
I have a few project things in the pipeline but nothing set in stone yet, but there are a few more pressing areas of the old bus that require attention ASAP.
Currently on 86k miles and it needs a cambelt/water pump service urgently now, I've been holding back but I must get it sorted.
Add to that I don't trust my clutch, it's working ok without any slipping etc but I have a feeling the DMF is starting to play up again, so a new clutch and DMF to add onto the todo list.

The coolant header tank has a ruddy big split in it just above the outlet pipe, another bit on the list.

I have noticed recently that the engine feels like its rocking sideway when you blip the throttle, I know both mounts had been leaking so I suspect they are now well past there best, two more bits on the list.

I had not planned on doing anything with the balance shaft issues but what better opportunity than whilst I'm doing the rest, and having been sold on the mod, why not.

The other thing is I may have another look at the cam chain/tensioner, just make sure it's behaving.
Removing the engine will be the best route , yes a bit more involved in someways but will make doing all the individual tasks so much easier in one go.

I think that little lot will keep the old bus going for a few more years, well hopefully it will, look after the mechanicals and that's 90% of the battle won, then all the rest is just enhancements.

Hopefully that lot won't cost too much, labour charges can be a bit steep on some jobs , DIY route will cut down total bill by a lot of pounds.

Right, that's my next few weeks sorted, what about you lot.

Im at the same stage at the minute Rob. My bus has never really had or needed anything doing to it over its life time but now its getting to the age where things are wearing out on it.

My list includes

-full front suspension refresh
-2x fromt wheel bearings replaced
-rocker cover gasket replacement
-new clutch and flywheel

I have my washer jets to change (thanks Rob).
Wheels to swap to pre-painted Stuttgart grey 5 spoke S lines.
Mudflaps to fit.
Pedal rubbers to change to RS ones.
Bosch wiper blades to fit.
320 mm front brake discs and calipers to fit. (thanks BobbyTea).
Arm rest lid to swap over.
Flip up cigarette lighter to fit.

Been think about a swirl flap delete, but after EGR valve removal wondering if it's worthwhile.

Full brake refresh. Painted at the least, maybe powder coated. Thinking handbrake cables also as it's needing adjusted each time on past couple of MOTs.
But have been tempted by 18z although I've absolutely no need for them.. Just simply nicer looking caliper and much easier cleaned, which appeals to my ocd.

18z Audi B7 Upgrade

Damn that looks good

Thats the same colour as my 18z's , not sure i can allow that.:whistle2:

I'm thinking White or Silver as they currently are

Get it working again… fix the IC pipe work. Then the fun begins…
Cam belt & water pump, Cam follower again.
Fit CTS K04x with S3 injectors and a few other supporting mods.
Back to Unicorn for a new map.
Fit ECS rear diffuser, mesh fog light inserts, Maxtone skirts & splitter.
Sort the paintwork out (possible re spray and new wing)

Then drive it, enjoy it and stop fiddling with it! well for a bit anyway :whistle2:

Sounds like a great plan Rob. :yahoo:

not sure you stick with the lack of fiddling , but worth a go.

Get it running again, plucking up the courage to drop the sump to investigate oil pump and pick up.

Had considered selling up or breaking, but cant bring myself to do it, so time to roll the sleeves up.

DRL button is a manual way of turning off daytime running lights.

If you have the DRL override switch , which you do, which is what it is , then you have daytime running lights. :thumbs up:

Very little left to do now on the 2.0 TDi 140 Avant, since most all the major stuff has been addressed (oil pump, camshaft belt, heater/aircon, new wings), but these include:
Full suspension overhaul, including all bushes etc. (around £1000)
A bit of minor painting at the front (most of the body has been resprayed now)
Waxoyl - I was too late for this winter but I might still try and have done before we get any further bogged down.

Things I would like, but non-essential:

Retrofit cruise and trip computer stalk
Retrofit foldback electric wing mirrors

Rs4 rarb ? Anyone done it ? Or upgrade of any sort ? Worth it ? …3.0 tdi Quattro ,mines a 18mm …are those extra mm worth it ?

my B7 came with the RS4 ARB from the factory and the body roll is very little compared to other B7's I have driven with the s-line spec arb's etc.
I'd say it ia a very good option to be honest and for those with the smaller dia ARB it is rated as a must do upgrade.

It is not the cheap retrofit it used to be though, and there are other aftermarket RARB kits around that may work out less.

I’ve got the Eibach front and rear ARB kit, well worth the money. I had the RS4 one on the back from the factory and still noticed a difference when changing

just for reference.
B7: SE bar = 16mm S Line bar = 18mm S4 bar = 20mm RS4 bar = 22mm

you will need a pair of brackets and bushes to go with the ARB

I'm not sure but you may only need the bushes and new bolts, i seem to recal the brackets are the same just the bushes have a larger bore , maybe wrong though its been a while .

Cheers Rob, have a few more I’ve not added in too. Although if I add them all up I probably could’ve bought a RS4 instead. I do love this old wagon though :rockwoot:

That's the thing, if you keep these B7's for a number of years they become part of your life, and expense is not really an option, they are worth more to us than just a used car price tag.
I spend way too much on my old bus, but hey, I love it and it keeps me happy which is all that really matters. :yahoo:

well I have a few things on my list that needed to be done asap...
- NS inner CV joint boot has split but the bearing makes noise sometimes so will buy a new driveshaft and replace the whole thing.
- 2 new front tires, no budget ones I want 2 good brand ones in 235 40 r18 since I run the oem S-line wheels

in the near future:
- LCR front splitter
- lowering springs ( mine is FWD probably just lower the front as I dislike the optical illusion that the front is higher... minus 10 or 20mm from what it is now will be perfect it'll add rake)
-finish the flappy pedal install and combine it with CC (to my dislike, one of the previous owners has ripped some parts out and sold them on, than replaced them with the cheaper parts to sell the car as a runner, yeah i went trough a vin decoder to find options missing) just need to replace the complete slip ring and module so might as well buy a complete set ending in R, that way the whole lot is there and it'll be a fit, code and done job.
-full heated black leather interior...
-maybe fit an andriod rnse look radio if i find one cheap enough..
- maybe retrofit some bi-xenon projectors and add the DRL and flowing indicators i got laying about ( will be done in a set of replacement headlights though)
