evening guys!!!

pulled onto the a3 at Ripley, engine was warm and gave it some beans to get going...loss of power then a shudder and strange sound, pulled over straight away and called the aa

guy came and checked the eco, said there was a miss fire on cylinder 4, so tried to change coil pack

changed the coil pack at the side of the road, then just wouldn't even turn over....sounds ******* ominous to me, just what I needed at 7pm on a Sunday evening, as I fear the worst

topped up oil a couple of weeks ago and deffo no oil light came on.

does anyone have any info this or know how much a rebuild/engine swap costs all in ???

Belt / chain jump?

considering you’re running a 1.6 non turbo engine just swap it over for the punt

The only diagnosis check was to swap a coil pack, and now you are looking to scrap the engine?
Get the fault codes read first and use them to point you in the right direction.
It could be a spark plug instead of a coil pack, so at the very least have them checked/replaced if it hasn't been done in a while.

no I'm not looking at scrapping the engine, i'm just thinking of worst case.

got a mech coming down this week to have a look, hopefully its a cheaper fix than new engine

also its a s3...not sure when're you got 1.6 from ?????

Whilst I didn't mention the engine you had, you neither did you. You mentioned an A3, but it looks like that was a road name not the car model?
Try and provide as much info as you can and it will help people to provide answers tailored to your car/problem.
