Anyone can tell me approximate service cost (from experience) of an A3 for 1st year's service from a main dealer? Coming from a V40 Volvo these were in the region of just under £300, hoping the A3 would be a bit more reasonable, perhaps in the region of £175-£200? As it would be a lease, guess it would need to be from the main dealer unless someone who had a lease can tell me otherwise? It would be with LEX Autolease. Thanks!

Depends from dealer to dealer, you also do not need to take you're car to main dealer while its under lease as long as its stamped and paper work can be supplied once handing the car back. There was a law change a few years ago I believe to stop the big company's profiteering from you having to take the car to a dealer.

Just a word of caution. The change in law was for cars purchased outright or on PCP. Personal contract hire (Lease) is different. As the car is not owned by you, the lease company can dictate where it gets serviced and often stipulate dealer servicing. Check your contract small print or you’ll get a nasty fine at hand back.
This is slightly complicated by the VAG approach to servicing based on age or mileage. New cars often come pre-set with Longlife servicing requirements, where the on-board computer senses the need for a service at any time up to 18,600 miles or 2 years maximum.
My understanding is that Longlife is intended for cars that tend to do longer journeys and dictates the need for a more thorough "inspection" service when the car asks for one. This is at 2 years for many people.
However, diligent dealers will set a car's OBC for annual servicing if your car usage is mainly around town, infrequent journeys etc. In this latter case, you will alternate between a less thorough "oil change" at the first year and then the inspection at the second anniversary.
Oil change services for A3s tend to be at or slightly lower than £200, then around £375 for the inspection service. This is comparable or cheaper than other brands, certainly cheaper than Volvo in my experience.
Obviously many people interpret the above in their own way and may just go with the cheaper Longlife / 2-year servicing schedule while still theoretically maintaining a full history.

I guess by the original batch of 8Y A3s are now due their first service. If yes, and assuming they are not all on longlife service, anyone care to share how much they paid from an Audi dealer for their 1st (1 yr / 10k miles) service?
Not A3/S3 but I've just booked the RSQ3 in for its service and it's £260 for an oil change or £395 for the inspection with oil change. Both ridiculous for what you actually get.
All the dealers i spoke to were using Audi fixed price servicing and would not budge on price and apparently those prices nclude "parts labour and vat" lol

I got a service plan when I bought the car. Peace of mind and fixed the price as like everything the costs go up.

I went with the service plan which is £529 for first and second services at £22.04 per month over 2 years.
If you take the cost of the first £280 from the total of the two £529 then you’re left with £249 for the second. It will be more than that so thought it was ok.
I know I can take to an independent but prefer dealers. All be it a bit more expensive. My car is on PCP.

So the best quote i got so far for Audi dealer first service for A3 30 tfsi is £277. Little bit out of London, but guess I can take a walk and explore while it's done. Anyone got a more competitive quote? Surely an S3 service should be more no? @S3 TRS was quoted £280. Or a 1.0 engine be less (around £250 region)?
For just an oil change I’ve been quoted £290 by York Audi and £320 by Bradford Audi.
Quoted £80 by kwikfit and assured it will be the correct oil, am checking myself first to ensure they’ve got the right stuff.

For anyone who's interested (not sure if there's a Sticky post for this but couldn't see one) the oil for the S3 8Y is Long Life 3 0W-30, Ausi use Castrol Edge but as long as the specs match it doesn't matter. Even the castrol edge stuff audi use is about £50 if you search around despite Audi telling me they charge £116 for the Oil itself.
The woman did also say "as long as you use Audi specific parts" presume there's only the oil filter itself, and the plug for the panel underneath which is about £20 for the pair of them.
So roughly £70 for bits, and Audi want ~ £300 I want some of what they're smoking....
