Hi All,

Like many I am eager to get a few mods done to my 8Y, namely an induction kit. I had a full Ramair induction kit on my 8V and the bang for buck was great. Unfortunately, Audi changed the intake pipe from the airbox into the turbo elbow on the 8Y, and they added a secondary pipe on it - could be a breather pipe but I'm not entirely sure, so it is incompatible.

Does anyone know if there is any kits released at the moment? I know the R600 intake fits but this isn't what I'm looking for unfortunately.

There is also lowering springs out for the Golf 8 and S3 8Y. If you know of any other mods released post them here.

There is a TDI tuning box that gives the car a slight map tweak making it a bit quicker.

https://tdi-tuning.com/en-gb/car/au...td4-sent-multi-channel-petrol-tuning-box-chip

Have tried this on an S5 and it made a significant difference to the power and feel of the car.

But I know it's not a real substitute for a custom map, but none the less it's temporary and there's a market out there for it.

I had a DTUK box on my last S3 for three years and it was great. Changed the car entirely.
Just ordered Bimecc spacers for my new S3.

£140 for front and rear including locking nuts. 15/20mm

S15TM It’s bizarre why the ride height for the s3 8Y is so high compared to previous models...it’s claimed to be a 15mm drop with the “s” suspension, but looks like a monster truck . In relation to the spacers I’m curious of what you think once you get them on as I tried 15mm front and 20mm rear..... it doesn’t work for me they stuck out too much for my liking, I’ve taken them off for now. I’m going to drop it first I think and then see if it’s worth adding spacers (maybe slimmer ones). With springs is it only Eibach that offer these currently? I haven’t really looked into it yet. Oh If you want to see how the pics looked with the spacers I’ve got them on Insta under the same
name, let me know what you think???? Also I’m intrigued by an induction kit, I had an ECS on when I had an S5 B9....not really much out yet for the 8Y yet is there????? Oooops I’ve rambling

I've had the spacers on for a few weeks now, 15/20 like you, and I love them, but the car still needs to be lower. I'd like to lower it but going to wait until I've seen other peoples and what height/springs they've gone for.

I hear you mate, I’m thinking around summertime. Post your pics of the fitted spacers I’m intrigued lol. Have you tried using an OBDeleven on this new platform? It doesn’t work something to do with the VAG security. So can’t make some easy tweaks and adjustments anymore until this gets cracked, Grrrr and why remove the option to assign drive select to the asterisk key on the steering wheel, as much as I like the 8Y there’s also a hate list forming

Apparently the headlight leveling sensor is somewhere near the rear suspension, lowering it will pull on the cable and break it.

To be honest only just spoke to someone who lowered their car, so one to watch out for potentially

I know what you mean I miss the drive select on the star and was hoping it could be added with VAGCOM, I also enquired about getting the front sensors fitted with the graphics on the MMI but it was 1100 quid and that’s not by Audi

Hi,

I had this same issue on my Golf mk7, it was some kind of plastic connecting rod attached to the rear axle, which broke when replacing the rear springs.
So what i will be doing once my A3 arrives is checking if it looks the same, and try to snap off this rod before taking it to be lowered.
The only thing to watch out for is to make sure the sensor stays in the same position (maybe some hot glue?) as it would be when the car is flat on the ground, otherwise you risk having to get the dealer to calibrate your headlights again.

Grtz,
Sigi

Still 50/50 with suspension, the current one on my new S3 is so comfy and smooth but sits too high, on my TT which was even higher I had H&R springs 15mm/10mm spacers fitted with full geo at awesome GTI and yeah its looked sooooo much better and handled better but after the newness wore off it became a pain to live with how stiff it was, speed bumps had to be taken at 1mph and still banged and scrapped on some, any undulating road resulted in bouncing and any pothole ended in trip to dentist !!! everyone who got in car, especially the MRS hated the ride and said how stiff it was. but when you looked at the car compared to standard it was night and day better. I know comfort and what your willing to live with is subjective but I really did regret fitting the springs for a daily driver that was never going on a track and properly taking advantage of the benefits. Most of the forums say the Eibach are a lot softer than the H&R but I need one of you guys to take the plunge and give honest feedback haha !!!!

No experience with H&R or Eibach, i've had some cheap brands on a '97 polo and they we're a nightmare too.. AP suspension is a bit better but also quite stiff (same car)
On my mk7 i had ST Suspension (former Weitec, from KW group) and they we're very good, stiffer than original Rline springs but still comfy, even on Belgian roads (which are a nightmare on their own)

Grtz,
Sigi

yeah get what your saying, lots of diff brands with diff opinions (one mans hard is another mans floppy !!!!) don't want to go Coilover route, just wasted on a daily and not worth the expense for me personally. just don't want to destroy the ride quality but somethings gotta give comfort vs looks, just which is the right balance for me or stick with the arch gap and stance and keep the comfort mmmmmmm !!!

I’ve made enquiries into the sport’s springs from VW racingline.

Had H&R springs on my 8V. Ok in comfort mode but in dynamic was a bit bumpy. Was ok for me, had a few lowered cars. And my work van is lowered.

nice one, be good to see when they're fitted and your impression on ride quality, are you having them fitted at Awesome ?

Not sure yet. I’m in the north east, was considering car torque north east in Newcastle upon Tyne.

They’re a racingline dealer and oem+ technical centre so figured they’d have the most experience on fitting racingline parts specifically. I know it’s a job any car garage can do but I prefer to go to garages who are car and brand enthusiasts.

Yeah agreed, Awesome not too far from me and always use them and the service and quality of work has been top notch with no issues

Just need a car to put them on now so you can fill me in on how you find them :thumbs up:

I was looking the other day at MSS adjustable springs, there are a couple of YouTube reviewers who rav about them and the split spring system and adjustable hight, the main advantage seems to be ride comfort which is really what I want to keep as I'm happy with the handling for what I use the car for, then I found out how much they cost !!!!!!! prob around 1K fitted with geo, now that's a lot for just springs, but if I spend £500 on springs and ride comfort is ruined so then pay for originals refitted and geo'd its still worth considering.

ok, so the car is booked in for Tuesday for the RacingLine Springs and drop links.

Ive done just over 500 miles on the standard suspension so hopefully have a good indication. im waiting to lower it before fitting spacers to OEM wheels.

my other wheels, Japan Racing Wheels JR25 don't need spacers, VMR 701 will need spacers, not tried my brothers Rotiform RSE haven't tried on yet. wasn't the best as was raining. all 19inch.

Are you not worried about warranty issues? I would love to lower my S3 but only 7 days old

So, here are some pics. before and after. Racingline Drop Links and Springs.

Before

After 2

it just started raining after I picked it up, ill get some photos on more level ground, and then again some when the springs have settled.

Ride comfort wise - I have only driven on comfort since picking up the car. I have driven just under 600 miles, and first impressions are same as stock. will update after a week of driving. I know they will settle, but so far on my 4 mile round trip to the petrol station they seem just as comfortable as the stock springs. This being the vorsprung with active dampeners I can't comment on what S3 Sports suspension is like but I imagine it would be similar to what you have already just lower. perhaps a smidgen harder being lowering springs, but that's only an educated guess.

The lads said they had another S3 8Y booked in for I believe next week but unsure if that was an S3 or S3 Vorsprung. don't know if that guy/girl is on this forum either.

Nice ! looks really well pal, much better than stock and good to hear ride quality hasn't suffered too much. be interesting to see how it feels in dynamic compared to stock, especially when pushing a little. my S3 has the passive set up, not sure how this will effect comfort with fixed rate shocks.

Thanks. Wheels look a little lost without spacers but will soon sort that out. Have 3 different sizes in the garage to try plus different wheels etc so hopefully get to try them tomorrow weather permitting.

yeah will definitely look better, when I changed my wheels to wider than stock made a big difference to the stance
