Here's a workaround for the SOS warning light - help your resident A3/S3 8y channel reach 1,000 subscribers only another 50 needed!

Thanks to Marouan Abousif for the suggestion and for the countless others who helped to test this out.

It’s interesting that the SOS button puts you through to an Audi call centre rather than U.K. emergency services. I wonder if that means that, in a genuine emergency, you are better off calling 999 rather than pressing the big red button? Does anyone have any experience of using the Audi service for real?

Definitely better off using the phone if your sos has failed lol as it will take 50 seconds just to dial the call centre!

But I guess the nice thing is it sends over your co-ordinates to the call centre which can pass it on to emergency services just in case it's somewhere you're not familiar with.

Do you know if the workaround for the SOS warning light that you've explained only works on A3s, or can it also be used on a 2021 A6 (with Tech Pack)? After having the car for 3 months my SOS warning light has just come on, and now won't go off. Also, do you have to go through the same process every time you start the car up? Or do you only have to do it once? PS. My car is booked in to my local Audi dealer in mid January 2022 for a software update that is supposed to fix the problem.

It varies with success, works for Volkswagen's and Skoda's but with the Audi's it's a bit hit and miss for example it doesn't work on the q3 but does on other models.

Definitely worth a shot. This won't stop the alert appearing however but it should help get rid of it when it shows up and keeps staring back at you lol

Thanks for your advice, I'll give it a go. If it doesn't work then hopefully I only have another 4 weeks of staring at that yellow warning light on the dash to go! (if the software update is ready in time for January as my local Audi dealer says).

I'm not sure if this is true but my Audi dealership has told me that a software fix has been found for the MMI SOS issue and the problem will be a thing of the past for newly built cars

That's what I heard also. The SOS light on my 2022 model A6 went off itself after 2 days and has never reappeared, so I cancelled my appointment at the dealership anyway.

On my car you don't need to press and hold the SoS button for 40 or so seconds. Press once and wait 40ish seconds to cancel the call.

Much easier than holding the button when flying down the motorway!

My process once the SoS error flags
- Wait for it to fail to load my profile settings. This usually takes around a minute after the error
- Open the SoS flap and press the button briefly but firmly
- listen for when the radio audio cuts out. A few seconds later the mergency call is initiated.
- Press the cancel call button and wait for my profile to be auto loaded again. Usually about a minute.
- Curse Audi
