That's fair enough - I wasn't bothered but had to add it because we wanted the Power Tailgate - Won't have that issue next time and no Matrix - Saving a fortune - Will have a car with nothing on it that I wanted though lol

I think they are waiting to start building them before confirming - JCT600 said they hope to give me some good news soon... Soon remains undefined though.
The longer I wait, the more I feel I may miss the MMI rotary wheel control - strange how the BMW 1 series has got one... hmm wonder what their lead times are...
Found out the the car is now built and on route to the port in Germany. Audi UK saying it takes an estimated time of 4 weeks from when the car is built to it actually being picked up by the customer at the Audi centre. (so much for picking the car up early June)
Wait....what!!!!!! you must have some connections in Audi, that's a crazy fast turnaround time..lol
So I received a call from my dealer yesterday with no further details on delivery. The dealer does not even know the status of the car. It is no different to the last info he received which was that the car has been built. It now has disappeared into fresh air! The dealer has escalated with Audi Germany to find out where it is.
Shocking to say the least. Audi appear to be in chaos. After badgering Audi customer services, I've got an update. The update is.....no update...check with the dealer who may have further knowledge. I would suggest if Audi don't know, the dealer certainly won't. End of this month, if no update then it will be cancelled.
It seems as though they copied and pasted me the exact same response.
Literally by the word! They also told me to contact my dealer which I did. My dealer said we have no update on your vehicle !

Makes me feel relieved that my local dealer has a car arriving I would be content with.
Looking at all the other guys on here getting mucked around it seems making a factory order is chaotic just now.

I think certain dealers have more sway than others. I ordered both my cars through Audi Lincoln and both were built and delivered in under 3 months.
Perhaps they shift a lot more orders than other dealers so have more priority???

Yea i agree with you - it appears some dealers are more ’favoured’ than others. My S3 arrived in just 10 weeks with Belfast Audi and there was never a hint of a delay thankfully. Highly recommend them, customer service always top notch.
hmmm mine is only a S Line 1.5L 150bhp but my extras is the flat bottom steering wheel/Ambient lighting/diamond cut alloys... maybe those additional extras have made the difference

Don't think so, mine was also via Lincoln and i've been waiting 6 months so far just for a build week.
I've ordered my S3 via JCT600 Audi Lincoln, ordered 12 April. Had an unconfirmed build date 24th may (was very happy) then pushed to 7th June (still very happy) and today got the update it is 27th September (very sad 
).
Oh well!

The Audi 8Y is a better car than the 8V....... in the same way as Windows10 is better than Windows 7......same foundation but just better all around, some would say `idiot proof!`.......... we all sit here giving opinions, but you have to go to some really speacialist guys in order to improve what the engineers and designers have done at VWAudi, that`s why they are payed the big bucks, they are some of the smartest guys out there in the motor industry.....in fact they are probably the same guys that designed the previous 8V model and before..... so it`s rather like we all have our favorite `rock band` but we dont like the `new album!`.....yet its the same band we liked before....... The reason new cars are made are because they carry forward new technologies and new aerodynamic designs, and in most if not all cases improves on the previous model..... For me the car is better in every department, some changes are subtle and some you feel as soon as you drive around a corner, the car is balanced far better than any A3 before it.....and for me that is 80% of the gig.

problem is windows 7 its better then 10 - i got both of them and 10 only give me head pain and updates alllll the time . ;-)

quality its so low I will say its around 30% lower quality then 8V
they can say everything because they want sell new models

I've never owned an Audi.... I'm an owner of a Seat Leon FR (67 Plate).... I think nrw Audi A3 looks great... I only had a quick test drive so didn't pay too much attention to the quality of the interior materials.... but I'm expecting it to a clear step up from my Leon
I keep on reading that the interior quality of he A3 is a step down from the previous model.... but I've never owned an Audi Before so would no the difference....
Win10...is Win7.....same company, same coding, just a few more million lines of extra code to make your life easier.
Driving the new Audi makes my life easier also, due to the technology updates, all made by the company that gave you the previous model!.

I don’t feel that way and I’ve had a few audis. Actually the 8Y feels better to me than the A8.
Of course cost cutting comes into play on every new model.
The golf MK5 was made and it turned out to be an expensive car to manufacture. They did cost cutting and changed a few things. Then the mk6 came out and more cost cutting came. It’s part of progress.

I love it but ,but I do love any s3
I keep hearing that the quality of the interior has dropped because of things like hard plastics below the knee line etc. but I have checked my current Golf 7.5 and it is exactly the same. I have never had a build issue or issue with the quality of the Golf so if the Audi is built to this same standard then I will be more than happy!

The A4 doesn't have much to blabbering on about to begin with the 8y part of the forum will go the same way as the TT forum once all customers get their cars ie dead l get it all the 8y owners being defensive about their purchase that's only natural the 8y overall ain't a bad car but it's not a upgrade over a 8v unless you think adding a large touchscreen into the dashboard makes the 8y a better car... the negatives of the 8y especially in the S3 model outweighs the positives ten fold

I had a 2014 S3 8V sport back and was disappointed by the removal of the S3 from the badging and just S instead on the facelift but it really doesn’t bother me any more.
What negatives are you referring to?

Can we all just dial it down a notch with the bickering ? Maybe we just agree that some prefer the 8v and some are happy with the 8y ? Yes, i know i’m only new here but i didn’t join to see grown men bicker over cars ***.
WTF is going on on here, this used to be a great forum with such a friendly bunch. I admit it’s a while since of been here, but god things have changed.
