Could sell and buy a cheap car whilst waiting for any decent lease deals to arrive.
It is mad. Our 2020 Mini cost £25,200 after decent discount (pretty loaded with pano, comfort +, nav pack etc.
Has been on a 0% 24 month deal (until Mar 2022). Just got the wife an Abarth 595C on a cheap lease, and have a Countryman JCW (306bhp) on order for Sept/Oct delivery…loaded and got £6k discount.

My mate got more that the initial motorway quote. He did all the pictures and got better offers. He sold his mini for more than he paid last year.It is mad. Our 2020 Mini cost £25,200 after decent discount (pretty loaded with pano, comfort +, nav pack etc.

Thanks mate, and that is what I am thinking (I will get more). The midnight black with Satellite Grey quilted seats, pano, Nav, comfort Plus, etc etc should mean I will hopefully get better offers. Given you need to do the motorway photos and submission on the fly, so plan on washing and then doing in the next few days and see what I get back. If it is north of £23k will probably sell, as that gives me £9k back. Given I put £7.2k down, not bad at all

Gave it a wash and submitted the photos to motorway, will let you al know if the price changes

im thinking doing the same. There’s a few stock cars at some dealers that tickles my fancy so maybe instead of extended Warranty I get a new car instead and lower my monthly pcp.

No. You start off by agreeing your “reserve” then it goes on their daily sale apparently and if the price is met you then have to agree. Equally if reserve isn’t met you could still agree the lower price but to answer your question you are not obliged until you have then given that agreement to sale
can you still pull out even if your reserve is met?
ie, you put £20k reserve and someone offers £20k, do you have to accept that or can you reject that?
Often more is offered, but you need to agree to the price you are happy to sell at:

Anyone know if there’s short term lease/rentals for a reasonable price? Considering selling my S5 but as I’d need a car for work in the next month or so, considering a short term lease to save on my monthly payments and be in a position to buy a car in 6-12 months time.

It is a bit like that I think. Goes into their daily sale with a reserve and then the dealers bid…..I have sold. Met the reserve with an extra £351, so pleased as punch
And bought by a Mini main dealership who will no doubt sell it for £25k + (we actually paid £25.5k for it in Mar 20 when new)

Think other than those car subscriptions you will find it hard or expensive for a 6-12 month lease. Might be worth buying a £2000 banger and sell it in a years time with the hope you get most of it back.
Agree. 2 year leases there are plenty, but at leasing.com covers many companies. I find select a bit pricey
We got the wife an Abarth 595C Turismo on a 3 year for £225 incl maintenance (servicing, tyres etc) and obv road tax for the term is included. Great fun.
Not exclusively car focussed but does show how car manufacturers are dropping options. Decent simple economics explanation here - for those with TLDW the car stuff is near the start.
A lot of of options are still there but it’s buried within expensive packs or only available on the vorsprung edition. So something like acc you need something like tech/comfort/assist pack pro or plus so what was a cheap option now becomes a pack that’s potentially thousands of pounds and you only wanted the one thing out of 10. All manufacturers are the same at the moment.
It’s how they are squeezing us for more money.

Agreed, packs was something (AFAIK) Lexus have done for ages. However when you look at their packs/trims they bundle things together that’s actually sensible (I.e you’d want most things in that pack)

That is where Seat seem pretty good too. Their cars and SUV’s tend to be better specced than the VW’s, Audi’s etc, and they have specific model options that mean you could only add a few options on top anyway.

I've been keeping my eye on these prices closely. My Ford Focus was valued at £15,800 2 months ago with WBAC. Today it's £17,750. I've booked an appointment before the bubble bursts.
Will be a long 4 months sharing a car with the misses until my 8Y arrives, but these prices are too strong to carry on waiting.

Big jump, wonder how thing will go in 12 months time?
What I mean is, (using your car as an example if someone bought it) in 12 months time they can't offer them what they would have done for the car on todays 'normal' price of £15,800 - 12 months 'normal' depreciation, as it would be a massive loss to them. So they will have to offer the 'normal' depreciation from 'todays' value of £17,750 otherwise people will just keep their cars as they are doing now!
I took out the new i30N performance a few weeks back thinking I'd cash in on this car, almost £2k up since Oct, but there were too many little plastic cheap bits that I don't think I could live with...quick car though! But at £32k after discounts it puts it up with BMW's 128Ti, VW GTi club sports, Cupra Leon etc.
Yep. Anyone taking out a multi-year PCP now is likely to get creamed once things settle and depreciation corrects itself unless they get creative with GFV, especially as most use that GFV as deposit for their next car.
Have you tried motorway.co.uk? They beat WBAC by almost £1k, and ultimately when car went into daily sale with them (I had agreed on a higher £23,250, but ended up getting £23,601. And so so painless. No negotiating when they come and collect just make sure car is as per ad and pics. I now have the wait for the Countryman JCW in Sep/Oct hopefully
So my Cooper S Exclusive that I sold for £23,601 to main Mini dealer via Motorway, is up for more than it cost new in Mar 2020. We paid £25,600, up for £26,250

It's nuts lately. I'm looking to get shot of my S3 (44 months old) in the next few weeks and stuck it up on Wizzle last week.
Within hours I had four offers over £25k when the last time I checked early this year I was getting quotes around £22-23.
