I've decided this time I'm not paying Audi £475 for new oil and spark plugs.

I assume the oil I need is Castrol Edge 5w30 fully synthetic so what filter and plugs do I need? Preferably from Halfords because I have a trade card.

Even with the trade card you would be cheaper buying online for oil , last 1ltr top up I bought from halfords cost me £21, cheapest place I could find was this.

Spark plugs not due every oil change!

I'm happy to order offline if I can find out exactly what I need. Thanks for the link.

It's just hit 75k, Audi recommend plugs at 80k service so may as well do them now.

Confirm the number here,
I think its ngk PLFER7A8EG

I couldn't get the NGK part finder to work actually but that same number plug comes up when I search Opie Oils using my number plate so I'll go with that, thanks.

So, just the filter to figure out now.

Will do, thank you, I've found some pretty good prices online though. I'll PM you this afternoon when I get home if that's OK.

Spark plugs VAG 06K905601B, NGK PLFER7A8EG (94833), Bosch 0241245673 (FQ5NPP332S/8160).

06L115562 - oil filter with seal

Don't forget!
06L103801 - oil drain plug with seal

As for oil everyone has their own opinion but I use Quantum Platinum 5w-40 at present. My oil gets changed annually no matter what mileage has been covered. TPS oil checker is available here should anyone be interested.

Thanks, that's very helpful!

Try TPS for the genuine filter, £8 and put RS6 / RS7 spark plugs, so much better for missfire protection, no dearer than OE plugs
Plugs are due at 40K miles ish or should be!

think you might have a better TPS than most folk. They went down the strict route of trade only and not selling to individuals anymore. Use to use them all the time and now need to get a garage to order them for me if I’m not getting it online.

Noted, thanks.

How do you get the right RS6/7 plugs? Is there a thread somewhere that gives the part numbers or is there another mechanism to locate them?

Interested to know this also, although I can't really see the point on a non modified motor like mine. I've not looked into it though so.

Latest NGK RS7 plugs are Audi part no. 06K905601M with the NGK part no.SILFER8C7ES and NGK stock no.91006 as detailed here. You can also get RS7 plugs 079905626G and 079905626M both being a Beru manufactured plug with one the early version and one the later both using Beru part no.Z345. The Beru were original VAG supplied parts prior to them being superseded by the NGK original VAG part.

Some interesting info over on Golfmk7.com here regarding the difference with the Beru and NGK original plugs.

Amazing what you can find out when you do a few minutes research ;)

I get all my parts from TPS (OEM VAG Parts only) they found the plugs for me. my car wasnt mapped but the RS plugs are apparently better for throttle response and much better with regards to helping with miss fires, these engines are renowned for having them which can lead to other big problems,
I noticed a slight improvement in throttle response and mid range smoothness over OE but the induction kit and service was done at the same time so could be a placebo. but they were like £20 more than OE for the set of 4 so worth it in my opinion.
