I'd have a RS3 8y over the 45 any daythe Merc is a great car ... it’s just the lack of noise !!!!!
plus I’d had my RS3 four years and with no new RS3 in sight at that time the Merc was a great choice and I’ve certainly enjoyed it.
But it lacks a an all important 5th cylinder
the RS3 WILL sound better 100% - maybe not pre~fl level - but it will sound miles better and believe it it not that is a BIG thing for me.
Not about the badge or image in the slightest, not sure why you think that ?
Having had both, I’m glad I’ve dipped my toe in the Merc water, but the RS3 just appeals to me more.

One thing the 8Y RS3 has going for it....Its way better looking than the S3 8y ...the 8y S3 was rushed out in the UK...no noise,no power increase,A1 virtual cockpit...and limited choice of alloys etc etc
So Glen what RS3 are ye opting for carbon black edition with a couple of options on top? matt black alloys are a big put off for me I'd rather go basic model and add my chosen options Vorsprung is for eejits lolAgreed
Launch models will be demonstrators and press carsAs per other thread, pricing and options out. Only very small number of the launch addition (96) allocated to UK initially.
All them options are gonna make it slower ...l asked my boy today about lead times for the new RS3 saying Audi said November....he started laughing....ergoMine by end of play tomorrow
RS 3 Launch Edition (+£6,000), of which only 96 examples have been allocated to the UK. You “should” get one given you have been on the list for so long, but probably not as will be demos and press cars as James says
Edit ...launch models will be demos press cars and yourselfNot all

It's not gonna have the flat bottom steering wheel mate as Audi didn't make a flat bottom steering wheel with sensors built-in for the adaptive cruise control part of the D.A.Ppmsl .... I fear so too.
plus the launch editions can’t be ordered - they will be allocated once they reach stage 20 of build ... so could be weeks away.
wait for the configurator to go live on Thursday but I suspect I’ll just go Vorsprung (it has all the kit I want plus a bit more) .... as long as it has a ****ing flat bottom steering wheel
If Nov even December was correct for the 8Y RS3 I'd be selling my TT tomorrow and drive the Mrs car till then ...get my name on one easily ...really l would but it's not gonna happen l wish it where true Jassy being serious for once

Sorry @Snake Pliskin but @jassyo06 is right, if the car has driver assistance pack it’ll be coming with one of those weird round steering wheels ( and not a lovely flat bottomed steering wheel).
So Launch Edition is obviously designed to make all the press love the car. If we are waiting for them to appear for the UK Launch.... could be well into 2022 for this model.
Round if it has the drivers assistance pack mateso does launch edition get round or flat ?

Sounds like a right bodge job if that’s the case ... who the hell wants a circular steering wheel after having had flat ?
If that is the reason that’s a disgrace !
ok whichever model has flat bottom steering wheel available then ... plus some extras lol
And have a flat bottom

I wonder where the design pack will feature then - with the full alcantara FLAT bottom steering wheel ?

But does it have the other assistance features. I think the main reason for capacitive steering wheel is for travel assist (lane keeping) so you maintain hold of wheel and not decide that you are going to read paper while it steers itself down M40. Normal adaptive cruise isn't combined with lane keep assist and so the flat bottomed wheel is fitted. So y does my A7 have a flat bottom
And has adaptive cruise
Or is it cos I have an A7

Well I have just been re-reading the original press release from 19 July. @Snake Pliskin It says:

From all the other models I have seen S3, RS Q3 etc....Driver assistance package (as option or part of Vorsprung) means round steering wheel. The design package does throw a curved ball and I don't know the answer to can you have full kit with design package on Vorsprung model. That will have to remain a mystery until Thursday and configurator day.
But does it have the other assistance features. (of course I might not know what I am talking about but that is how I think it works)
Rsq3 Vorsprung has a flat bottom wheel As does the A7 with it...larger steering wheels.. driver's assistance packs is a bag of ££££ wasted on an RS3 8Y As is the speed increased to 174 mph with a carbon trimmed engine cover....l remember when the press facelifted cars where all Sent out to dealerships all with around 6k miles on them they all had stupid options fitted that you could not specify individually 174 mph was one of them ....l remember watching the launch of the 8v FL RS3 on YouTube....and 3 of these cars... 6 months or so later arrived at Audi Hamilton just down the road from me l remembered the strange reg Numbers....all being similar l had a keen interest in car's back then lolSo y does my A7 have a flat bottom
And has adaptive cruise
Or is it cos I have an A7
