RS3 countdown to configurator

RS adaptive is still showing as included/standard on the vorsprung (in the Safety & Technology section of the configurator), without having to add the £1,175 RS adaptive equipment package.

£5k for ceramic brakes and +6 mph top speed increase

This was about to be my first brand new car for a long time, but between the bound to be silly delivery times, the only greys being daytona (had it numerous times) and Kemora (recent carwow video has completely put me off it), and the lucky dip spec farce.... Think I'll go RS5 in nardo for the next year or so (which probably makes sense coming from an M4) and then revisit the RS3 situation.

Just been playing around on both Dealer and Customer Configurators.

My take is that system is broken. I have just been able to configure a standard trim with stand alone options of adaptive suspension and sports Exhaust. You do so by choosing adaptive dampers under Equipment and not on the bottom of Trim screen. Just to add to mix up prices in both places are different.

So in summary I think they have some updates to run through so everything starts being consistent unless we suddenly have new flexibility on choice.(but that would never do)

Adaptive suspension and sports exhaust are standard on the Vorsprung.
Why is this a question?
The dynamic pack gives you the ceramic brakes and 180mph top speed only on the Vorsprung.

Because on vorsprung £5k to have ceramic brakes and mph increase is a disparity in price as a carbon edition is the same to upgrade but does not have adaptive as standard so £5k for both models suggests an error.

Carbon dynamic pack = ceramics / MPH + / adaptive = £5k
Vorsprung dynamic pack = ceramics / MPH+ = £5k

So there is a query now if vorsprung has adaptive as standard as it may be an uplift in dynamic pack as per carbon.

the changes are filtering through slowly... it slightly looks different to what was yesterday and was an hour ago and now.. Probably best to leave it for a day for the updates to be completed

We’ve known this from the beginning of this week that adaptive suspension is standard on the Vorsprung. No other changes will come anytime soon

Yes, but this morning i had an email from Audi saying there were changes to the config and it was all now live and up to date if using the configurator. At that point, when I re-ran the spec, Adaptive Dampers were not standard and were showing as a cost-option which also required you to spec the whole Dynamic Pack.

So while we think we know, the online configurator is being a bit funny and even an hour ago when I ran the spec again, Adaptive Dampers were missing from the pdf spec list that I produced.

My dealer has confirmed that adaptive is included as standard on vorsprung and has sent me a screenshot on his config.

Ceramic brakes are expensive and whilst it’s is more expensive than on the carbon pack that’s why the Vorsprung is the top trim.

I did say just buy some carbon bits after your get the car! Although perhaps it will arrive sooner than the Vorsprung.

I love how this forum is a lot less busy now because everyone has ordered one. And we know have 8 months to wait

Lol you can’t just keep rabbiting on about the same thing day in day out.

It’s disappointed more people with Audi’s bonkers attitude towards ordering.

Slightly off topic: How is the S3, Did you also experience all the early build issues reported few months ago or all ironed out when you picked up yours.

I love it. I had the 8V before it and despite a couple of rougher-to-touch surfaces I think it's a better car overall. After 5000 miles and admittedly with a res delete, it sounds a lot better than the 8V too imho.

I've not had any issues with the MMI so I guess I've been lucky, mine was built around the same time as others who have had the issues.

You think an 8y S3 sounds better than a pre WLTP 8v S3 ?

Yeah it's a totally different tone. They previous gen sounded hollow when revved, the 8Ys don't. It's a lot deeper tone.

You sure that isn’t the pumped in sound through the ASD? I have never heard someone say a car post 2018 sounds better than the pre OPF

No I'm fairly certain what I'm hearing outside isn't what's pumped in the cabin lol... the sound pumped into the cabin is a 5 cylinder noise and it sounds awful. It is just my opinion at the end of the day, I only owned my 8V 4 years lol

 Biggest load of BS I have ever heard on this forum
A synthetic engine sound of sorts is pumped into the 8Y S3's cabin fact no external growl on start up its ....very muted indeed
The engine note in my TTS is very pronounced on start up pops and crackles/grunts when revved up to 3800 but again in all new performance Audis engine sounds are piped into the Cabin my TT included and no doubt the 8Y RS3 will be the same don't get me wrong the synthetic sound is a pleasant sound it actually sounds very 5 cylinder like

They are quite quiet on idle to be fair, but once they're going they're actually alright. They are generally a bit quieter overall though. I was talking more about the tone.

Edit: standard they are obviously quite crap. I have a res delete on mine with valves opened constantly too.

Take away the mods do you think the 8y sounds better than the 8v ?

8Y RS3 will/should sound like this
jump tp around 12 mins in

I’ll be happy with our new RS3’s sounding like that.
The videos so far have also convinced me the 5 cylinder warble is there & even if it’s quieter than before (well we know it is) it’s gonna be enough to keep me happy I’m pretty certain.

do we know if there’s any piped sound into the 8y RS3 ?

I've listened to the videos of them drifting it around the test track with some press and I can't make my mind up if it is or not. It's not terrible but I want more sound from it when it comes. You can't res delete these to my knowledge so what's the next step, a sports cat or something?

As a current RS3 owner I don’t think it sounds any less noisy than mine EXCEPT at idle as there is a rev limiter.

It does sound different the 8y RS3 doesn't go as low nor as loud as the 8V FL same with the 8s TTRS opf vs the non opf TTRS you need to swat up on yer Audi knowledge youtuber

LOL When driving past it sounds the same; we can’t rev it obviously but everyone should realise we haven’t heard any driving reviews that weren’t the prototype yet.

It is logical to assume Audi have done something to make it sound better than the OPF 8V.
