Hi all,
I hope someone can help. I've been having a recurring nighmare trying to get the B5 perches fitted!

before i start my car is an Audi A4 B6 1.9 TDI AVF 130. I bought it when it was ~10 years old and have had it now over 7 years.

It's a great car, lovely to drive and i'm doing my best to look after it. It's done 180K and i don't do many miles (no commute) so i reckon it'll last me quite a few more years!

the only mod i've done so far is to fit the RONAL s-line 18" wheels. On the rear i've fitted 20mm spacers. From the pictures i've attached you can see the rear fills the arch nicely but the front has quite a gap at the top.

I was wanting to drop the front a little by swapping the perches for hte B5 ones to get it more like the rear but my first 2 attempts have failed.

The first attempt did nothing. It seems ebay/autoparts switched it back from B5 to b6 possibly an auto compatibility correction. So after getting it back it still had the gap.

I then tried to research it more to find the part number and bought a pair of AUDI A8 D2 Front Lower Spring Disc 8D0412103B

although it was for an A8 it had the same part no so i assumed it was just a shared part. In the other pictures i've attached the garage took for me it seems this is too big and makes contact with the strut/inner body of the wheel arch.

have i just gotten the wrong part? is there something i've missed? Is there a different code for the spring perch.

It's really frustrating as it's been years now in between other fixes where i've tried to get it done while other work has been completed. I've replaced the wings myself and got the same garage that tried the perch swap to replace the front subframe as i noticed this was rusted through on the passenger side! luckily the part i got, although it was off a 2008 B7 2L petrol 8E0399313, fitted and this had the same part no. as the B6. Hence why i thought part no was definitive.

If anyone can give any insight/tips on this i'd be very grateful! Just would love to have this more planted at the front and matching the rear.
thanks again
Rab

would anyone even just have a part no. for the B5 perch? Whenever i search around it becomes ambiguous and twice now i've picked up the wrong part :-(

In my experience here there is little activity in the b6 section, it would seem the knowledgeable people have moved on now.

The good news is nearly every question has been asked and answered already, you just have to search back through the archives to find the info required.

hi there,
this is what i did. That's where i got the part number and examples except it didn't work for me. Either the part is wrong or my car has been modded before i bought it.

can't think of any other reasons if this combination of part/car has worked for others.

Hey -do your 20mm spacers rub on the arch? Didn't put anything on the front?

nothing rubbed at first. after a while i got a rub when cornering, and going over double bumps with a 20 stone mate in the back!

was aiming to put 12mm on the front but other issues have come about to be dealt with.

Both my back shocks are now gubbed. (rusted cracked spring passenger side, damper seal gone driver side)

i've decided to buy a full shock kit "Eibach B12 pro kit"

this is 30mm drop front/back but will probably be the same/higher at the back given the state of my current shocks.

should hopefully sort out the high front.

also given the current state it should be night and day when it's done. starting getting the odd clunk and rattle over stuttery bumps!

not sure what to do about spacers. might have to take off the 20mm but maybe 12mm back 10mm front?

would be nice to know what would work as would need to get them in place before kit is fitted and the tracking done...
