Could someone be kind enough to show me pics of of where the front footwell light are located. I,ve had a look in my 8v Sport and can’t even see any blank holes under the dash like you you used to find in older cars..tia

Alan66,

You may be having trouble locating the cut-outs for the front footwell lights because you are looking for large apertures. The led footwell lights used on facelift A3s are much smaller than those used on earlier models, only a couple of cm square. Picture attached. Incidentally, these new lights are very expensive, and the light output from them is pretty poor. Some folk have opened up the apertures to take the older versions, which are cheaper and much brighter. The other option, which I have used myself, is to fit brighter led modules inside the plastic cases. You can buy these from Robin at Rocket Wires.

Cheers for that info as lights I’ve been looking at are the older shape. I’ve found where the rear ones fit in the front seats but would appreciate pics of where the front ones are if possible.
Was also going to just wire them into a ignition switched feed to make it a simple job.

This gives you an idea of the type of hole you need to look for.

We advise that lighting kits should wired up as OEM into the control module, wiring them into the ignition feed requires splicing of wires etc.

You will be able to control the brightness via the MMI menu if wired in properly.

There are small cut outs for the light housings, you need to stick your head under the dash and you'll see them.

We can supply a full OEM footwell lighting kit for the 8V - www.rocketwires.co.uk

Also the OEM housings have terrible bulbs for light output, we stock replacement bulbs which are a straight forward swap - https://rocketwires.co.uk/online-shop/ols/products/8v-replacement-led

Hello RobinA3.
I have an audi A3 8P model. Keen to get footwell lighting done. I did my doors and they worked out great. I am in Africa so getting things from certain sites can be a problem for me. Can you kindly assist.
