Hi All,

I have a 2015 S3 with the B&O system and recently have noticed that when connected to bluetooth at least, the sound above a certain volume sounds like a poorly tuned radio.

When the phone is plugged in, the issue seems to resolve itself, but bluetooth should still surely work fine, it always has for me before,

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm just trying to narrow down if it is iPhone / Apple Music issues etc. I've had the system tested and issue investigated and no one can find any fault at all despite clearly being able to hear it!

Help appreciated.

Bluetooth is a shocking way to listen to music anyway, and I relate it to a poor quality radio from the 50's, but the PFL MMI units are known for having Bluetooth issues If I remember rightly.

Easy to check if its your phone or Apple Music, try a different phone and then a different streaming system on your original phone. Maybe throw some music on your iPhone and try that, it will eradicate AM issues.

It is, I agree, but I have never had an issue ever before, and it 'should' work fine. I have tried a couple of phones, albeit all iPhones, It's very frustrating, will try to investigate further, wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced it that's all :)

No but I shall :) It might be something to do with the new looseless audio on Apple Music as they are bigger files. We shall see.

Normally this would mean cutting in and out as it tries to buffer etc. Bluetooth with compress the data anyway.

As I said above, try different phoned and streaming services first. I use Tidal, and although it works fine with the MMI, I only use a cable, but have tried it with BT just to check everything was working.

Tbf, I have a MIB2 now. the MIB1 was shocking at everything to do with streaming.

Well I sent the car back where I got it from and as expected they couldn't find an issue, but it's still doing it!

I tried on Youtube music and it still did it, I also tried deleting the looseless format and redownloading the normal ones, it still did it (I know BT should play the lesser data version anyway, but a few people have said it doesn't) But regardless the issue remains.

Going to try again on a couple of phones tonight and see.

I know BT is never as good and cable is always best, but it's not really the point, it should work.

Bluetooth IS compression, so whoever told you it plays lossless is on crack. It would not be able to in the slightest! anyways..

Once you tried different phones, then it's likely the MIB1 Bluetooth element is going faulty, not uncommon.

If your dealer won't play ball, you'll need to get an independent inspection to state if/that this is the case, someone like @DJAlix could help and then present that to the people you bought it from to have them to repair/replace the MIB unit. If they don't, there are optional legal paths to take if you wanted to go down that route.

Good news is the MIB1 units are cheap as chips, but it may be worth upgrading to MIB2 at this point for a far better streaming experience.

I agree, I know it won't and never could, but apparently there is a bug where it 'tries' so it could be something to do with that.

Will report back once tried different phones and then like you say speak to @DJAlix who I need to get a hold of anyway for some retrofitting. And then I'll go back to the garage and get them to pay for the works, already put 400 miles on the car for them to be unable to find anything.

Thanks for the advice mate, it's much appreciated.
