The old car sounds better by a mile unfortunately the regs of today have killed the sound on 2019 onwards cars
By a country mile it sounds better but it was always going to be thee case as you say,my fav part of the 8y saloon is the rear looks better than the 8v still on the fence with them matt alloys they look too plain/basic for personal taste

They better not be removing the HUD from vorsprung editions

Again not a option l would lose any sleep over losing never had a HUD before so can't miss it
If it does get removed the Vorsprung model really starts to become a bit of a enigma

You should have compared the sound with a 2019/20 rs3 aswell. That was the last model they sold and everyone knows the sound was a letdown on them.

I think they look great from any angle mate .
I personally think the matt alloys on the carbon black are the best of the bunch . The Vorsprung wheels will be a nightmare to put rite if you curbed them .

Can't see the point on comparing a pre opf car to a opf car? Ongoing to be 1 winner

I think they work well with certain car colours ( Daytona being one ;) )

plus I’m still not sure about those multi colour stickers on the gloss black alloys and again I think they could be very car colour dependent ... but I’m sure they will work superbly with exclusive paints :icon thumright:

You wear your alloy wheel heart on yer sleeve mate av seen these wheels and done nothing for me ....its subjective
Saying that l think your Daytona saloon will go straight into the No 1 slot for the best looking RS3....to date

but come on mate - you gotta admit the graphic alloys are a bit odd. I’m not even sure of the colour, one of them looks like kemora grey:

No point rev'ing them anymore from zero rpm as they are designed quiet to pass the Regs. How Merc get away with it though is anyone's guess!

the Merc might rev higher but on start up and at low revs it sounds ridiculously mute - it could be a 1.0 litre base car. Driving round town it makes no sound whatsoever. I’m hopefully the RS3 will sound much better and provide some enjoyable sound at low speeds.

there is a exhaust button on the Merc but it’s so poor imo. You have to rev the nuts off it and then you do get some decent sound - but my point is you could enjoy the RS3 at low speed / any speed.

Agree, 360 was important to me, HUD was not, how much more will be removed, before pulling the plug on the car.

The artificial 5 cylinder sound piped into the Cabin will take care of low speed sound

They could have offered a Black Edition encompassing the spec both carbon and Vorsprung share add a alloy choice pan roof option, carbon add ons Memory seat option ....instead of stripping options off a mode....l Audi would have been well of aware of the chip shortages that would could/affect some spec ....Some changes could come into place come the MY23 change

Given the already known issue of chip shortage and so on, would have been better for Audi UK not to force us down the Standard, Carbon and Vorsprung road.

Couldn't agree more they messed up the spec on the A3/S3....for example you can go and buy a a £31k Edition 1 35tfsi it gets the 12-3" virtual cockpit but you can't get it on a £40k S3 you need to spend £46k on a Vorsprung S3 to get the 12-3 virtual cockpit it's just doesn't make any sense no matter how you look at it

I just wanted a car with everything on it because I was planning on cherishing it forever and didn’t want the feeling it was lacking something. The loss of 360 and wireless where a massive blow imo, HUD would be a triple whammy and frankly embarrassing for the ‘Vorsprung’ name, which was originally used to highlight top build quality as they USED to be made in a special factory, I think the average standard is high enough now though.

I guess the 3 could be retrofitted.

I did check if 360 was available as a retrofit, could not find it anywhere on Google. However, there are similar retrofit for A4 and A5, with a starting price of 3K and upwards. Alternatively aftermarket DIY ones from China were around £150 onwards as a bolt on with very limited integration, other than using the screen and drilling holes into side mirrors to poke the cameras.

Lol that’s disappointing, I’m sure we’ll be able to work something out over the next few years

I’ve been speaking to someone about it and we’ve come to the conclusion it’s expensive to do it as a retrofit.

Assumes it will be the case as the whole internals will have to be stripped, then re-coded to accept the additions into the bus, as plug & play is probably no more.

I won’t do it unless Audi release official parts for it, after the chip shortage, if it ever really was or will be an option for a 8Y. By that time I’m sure the retrofit companies will charge a price inline with other models which is usually the same as adding the option from factory. If not I’m happy to (attempt) do the abour intensive parts myself to save some cost. Plus, I wouldn’t touch anything until the warranty has expired but it may also just be a reason to upgrade to the 8.5Y and make that the forever car

Companies such as Audiretrofits are already saying they can fit 360 to cars that missed the option from factory on their website. Not sure about Audiupgrades stance. I haven’t enquired about price.

The 360 is not available even on the German configurator

Surely that 3k is for cars that don’t even have the rear view camera. I’m assuming that’s the hardest part, with it being the longest distance to neatly get a wire through the cabin?

4 cameras for the 360. A different Rear camera is fitted and may not be the same type of electrical/data signal connection. Both Door mirrors need to be dismantled with the door opened up to fit the side cameras, front of the car grill removed to fit the camera and then the control module for the 360 and the wiring routed as intended and will need to be fitted somewhere on the front, in the dash or in the footwell area.
Quite possibly, the seats/center console/dashboard have to be removed to lift the carpet etc, then dashboard/mmi connection have to be accessed.
Once all connected, chances are the new 360 control box need to be adapted into the car compute modules for forward motion, reverse selection, left/right steering wheel pickup etc.. it to work and not throw any errors of unidentified units and then shutdown.
Its way way too smart for retrofit if factory integration tools are not available, hence the high retrofit price tag, just on labour and knowhow.

I have also heard, the usual CANBUS integrated immobilisers are also being designed to be rejected as an alien entity, by the car's own compute modules as service department have found them to be a real nuisance when they kick in while in diagnostic mode/runs.

I agree, WTF Audi thinking with those graphics is beyond me, I'd even consider offering them as a free upgrade to anyone with a normal set for a straight swap.

On the exhaust, why people are complaining about the tailpipes being fitted very closely and neatly into the rear bumper instead of hanging out too far and in mid air is also a mystery, makes them easy to swap out for black or chrome or whatever you fancy in the future, plus as said they shouldnt corrode as much, my Golf 7R tailpipes have corrosion marks in them and i'm pretty anal keeping them clean

My B9 tailpipes were terrible for putting and corroding so I hope these are better. I imagine between the setup and the OPF they should stay looking decent.

You'll not get soot or pitting on the new RS3 exhaust because of the opf and also because the exhaust is detached from the exhaust embellisher
They could have easily enclosed/semi enclosed a full exhaust into the rear diffuser if they wanted too they do/done it with other RS cars ....cost cutting

I really don’t think it’s cost cutting to be honest. The price difference between the two setups is likely negligible but the new one reduces the cost/likelihood of replacing an exhaust in the event of a light shunt. The R8 has had the same setup for ages, as well as most Mercedes AMGs, BMW ‘M-lite’ cars, etc. if I remember rightly.

I’m not saying I like the way it looks, just saying I don’t think it’s for cost cutting. I’d much prefer the proper version, like most people on here I assume!

Kind of RS3 related but I see they’ve cracked the G80 M3 now so it can be flashed via OBD.

Didn’t seem to take that long, fingers crossed for the RS3 for those the care not about warranty

You might be right there. Afaik one of the German tuners already has one at over 600hp but it could be a piggy back device not a map.
