RS3 8Y General Discussion Thread.

RS3 baiting? Lol. It was easily walking away from him on track and I'd be willing to bet that if the same driver was in both that it would be significantly faster, especially out of corners. We also have no idea if the RS3 was giving it the full beans on the track in front of him either. I would find it hard to believe that the Cupra would 'bait' the RS3 or something like a 240i (since they did essentially the same time on track)...

The only baiting going on is click baiting with that twerps video title

I like.it.but 1:18 be minimum
I’ve been looking for models too and the other weekend at Supercar Fest I found a 1:18 RS3 but it was 8V.
as o my advice keep any eye out on DNA Collectibles as they may do a 8Y model.

Oh wow, read everyone’s mileages, I think I must be running my car into the ground.
I’m at 2599miles since 18 March.
Will have to keep it locked up for a few weeks

Don't worry mate, I have done 1200 in 5 weeks and that trend won't change.

I’ve got the Adaptive suspension and spend most time in Comfort. It’s nice and comfy.
I certainly notice the ride if I put it in dynamic.
suspension in Comfort is way forward.
I have my RS Individual set up as sporty but suspension in comfort.
(I recall the mk8Golf R “Nurburgring “ setting has DCC set to Comfort as the best set up for Green Hell ( by my logic….so obviously ideal for the roads of Wiltshire )

Yes but like i said will be around 6k because s3 its 4.3k :)
and all that without installation :D
That's a major investment. As has been said before on here, perhaps the OPF removal when the time comes is the way to go forward without denting the bank account like that.

I like it - I find it odd that the 8Y RS3 has a totally different diffuser design than the RS4/5/6/7 even though it is a newer model.

And also how the diffuser is definitely LESS aggressive than the 8V. It is a bit strange. The negative of that Akrapovic version is it stops the “kick to open“ boot function working.

To be honest the 'kick to open (or close) boot' function seems to be a little hit and miss on mine, as does just opening the rear hatch (with car locked) with the release button under the Audi badge,

Waste of time as I have advance key opening turned off it stops working anyway.

Has anyone got a non-launch addition with these features. Power boot opening, with button on the boot to close it and kicking gesture that can do the same. Tire monitoring system where it tells you psi and tyre temperature. Side assist, lights up on the inside of the side mirrors. Very disappointed that my car doesn’t have any of this

This is what it says on the configurator for the sedan Audi UK website. Unless I’m reading it wrong I was expecting it on my car

Yes it does say that. It also shows tyre pressure monitoring as standard but I'm not aware of that being added back in. I questioned the inclusion of the RS mats seeing as it's in the picture on the configurator and received the response that it didn't actually say RS mats. It said mats, just with RS mats as the picture provided. Who knows what's going on!

Few start ups with mine illustrating the odd pops and bangs you get from it now.

Sits nice . Any spacers?
Yeah it’s riding on the bimec spacers. 15mm rear 10mm up front. No rubbing with the Pirelli’s although have heard the other branded tyres do with the same setup.

Has anyone gone Eibach Pro-Kit instead?

This is probably what I’ll be fitting, I had the pro kit on my 8v, only 10mm all around and it was just enough to close the gap, zero difference in comfort.

Nice. I keep flip-flopping from Pro to Sportline. On one hand @HulkRS3 and @Doja cat cars look great. On the other hand I'm thinking 4 up in the car with the usual $hite in the boot. Problems maybe?

I fitted the Eibach pros on my 8V.

Not sure I’ll bother this time don’t see the need.

8V it made the ride a lot better.

The datum points the mag ride height sensors give after lowering are all off, so the car has no reference for the true wheel centre to arch height.

This might be a daft question but is any such calibration necessary after lowering on the 8Y?

Generally speaking lowering any car normally adds 'an increase' in Negative camber and toe in for starters, 'If' the various suspension and other ecu's receive feedback from any height sensors then I imagine the answer to your question would be 'yes'

Manufacturers spend a lot of time and effort taking stuff into account like Roll centres etc, even before the computer controlled suspension era it was pretty hard to improve on std settings

Years ago (1991) we ran 2 brand new 964 Carrera RS in the Porsche Cup, straight out of the showroom (with just slicks fitted) they were within 1 second of lap record at Donnington, finding that last 1 second takes some effort and £

Three days into Audi ownership and been greeted the last two mornings by a pool of fluid on the garage floor. Around the passenger front wheel so looks like the washer bottle is leaking. Totally ****** off at the thought of a 200 mile round trip to the dealers for repairs already.

It’ll be like like the 8V…… owners lowering and out the window goes all the carefully calibrated suspension settings because they think, I’ll lower it, so it must be better lol.

When I started doing the mag ride calibration with Alex at VCC you wouldn’t believe the difference owners were reporting once having the procedure done…. Night and day most reported.
