What have you done to your 8Y today?

Decided to use the auto park function on parallel park to see if it still works. 3rd time trying. First 2 very successful once it knows where you want to go. Let go steering just use accelerator pedal. Reversed in fine, asked me put to D when the car straightened itself out and it curbed the front rim. The car did, it didn't even said it was complete yet. I didn't think it would park literally 1-2 cm from the curb. So now I need to find some alloy touch up paint. Any suggestions? I've got the regular Audi non diamond cut on

I tried this from Amazon

E-Tech Metallic Silver Car Alloy Wheel Professional Touch-Up Pen Stick Paint

Thanks, guess that's the generic one (non Audi / VW one). Was it a perfect match, very good match (eg need to look a bit to see where) or good match (covers the curb, but u know you touched up as slighly different shade of silver)?

How have you done this when there is an obstruction moulded plastic in the way of the light connectors?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's rigth!! So, I added a smaller ligth connector, I did not use the original one, then the obstruction was not a problem.

Ok nice! So where did you get those ones from? With the adapter? Did you have to take the door cards off or fish cable back up to the rear facing light you were installing?

I got them in aliexpress, https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLRdcn8, the new connectors are https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNsBQ9o, it is not necesary to take off the panel, just take off the red reflector and the foot light, pass through the new harness, one side to original foot light and the other side to the red one. And that's all.

Cleaned the seagull crap off it again.....black is not a colour its a hobby!..... about time people got fined for feeding these birds, most of what was on the car did not look like fish, it looked like human food!!!...either fine these idiots or let the rest of us shoot them and give our air rifles a reason to live!!!....

Added my rear door warning lights the other day. Front and rear. Got wires and lights from rocket wires and removed the light connector so just pins could be pushed into the light eliminating the need for door cards to be removed as per their instructions. Thanks to

JoMP

for the inspiration!

Finally tried today. The colour match to my rims (non diamond cut). 'Perfect match' I would say. Skill in applying it to a smooth and flat finish...not so good, but that's just me!

Changed the footwell lights. The stock ones were really dim , in the pic they were turned on at the top of their intensity
(believe it or not ). The new lights are enought shining and have a good color.

Suppose to have it's interim service at Brighton Audi (plus software updates) this Friday. Called my lease company to ask if I should go for fixed or flexible. They mentioned it's on 24 month, so no need a service yet (so I'm guessing flexible). Will end up going there anyway for the mutiple software updates which suppose to take 'couple of days.' Will have an A5 as courtesy car for just under a week, so will explore Easteborne Fri, and when I collect the car next week, will explore Brighton. Would be interesting to 'see' how much better an A5 is.

Highway road / wind noise, much quieter than the A3. A5 was a sport trim with 18 inch 245/40 tyres, 35TDI (2.0) 163ps. Did 69mpg on the journey back, did 61mpg on the journey up with the A3 30TFSI. Not quite sure it was MHEV or not, but it did shut the engine down whilst rolling (even on down sections on motoway) but not in the same ways as the A3. I like the illuminated cup holders! It was the same MMI system, except that the VC was the large one and had more dial options! However the one thing that struck me was how POOR the sound system was! 8 speaker (stock) sound system. I had the same USB full of my music and I put in the same treble and bass settings. Can't wait to get back my A3 with B&O soundwise!

I had a A5 40tfsi sport trim courtesy car I absolutely loved it but the thing used twice as much fuel as my A3 30TDi s-line.

Couple of days prior, i knew it woudl be an A5, but I didn't know if it would be TFSI or TDI. Was praying for TDI haha (and coupe)! Got he TDI, didn't get Coupe.
Mine was opposite 1.0TSI A3vs 2.0TDI A5 on the economy stakes. Was quite surprised the A5 could do almost 70mpg! My previous 2013 2.0TDI Seat Leon could at best do 58mpg or so like for like. TDIs have become more efficient in the last 10 years! 1 mpg for every year!

Fitted OEM wireless charger cubby! The wireless module didnt work with just power, so wireless charger module had its guts removed and a wireless charger purchased from Amazon placed inside as not willing to strip dash and modify wiring.
All really easy to do.

Hi Can you give a link to the Amazon sourced wireless charger?

This is what I purchased just for the size so that it would fit inside the Audi wireless charging module.
it gets warm, charges slowly but ok, this plugs intro a 12 volt cigarette lighter that is by rear air vents with wire tucked out of site.

I can’t find any pictures of the charger inside the Audi wireless charger. It all looks OEM I prefer it to without shame the original charger wasn’t easy to get to work

Car came back fully updated with 3 software updates. On the way back from Brighton on the A23, guess what? SOS PING! The other pings like low visiblity was spot on, it was REALLY raning it down during the thunderstorms. Wonder if that's why SOS pinged. Garrrh...however once back in London it didn't ping anymore in the 'usual' places it would Eg near Blackwall Tunnel. Hope it stays that way.

Finally managed to get the dancing rear lights coded

Fitted a Racechip XLR Pedal Box https://www.racechip.com/pedal-box/xlr.html on my S3 (8Y) today and it's made a significant difference to throttle response, especially in "Race" mode but I've settled on "Sport+" for the time being. Installation was very easy especially when I discovered that the drop-down oddments pocket to the right of the steering wheel can be removed (press the clip at the top upwards allowing the pocket to drop down and be pulled off) giving clear access to the plug on top of the throttle. Just needed to remove this plug, push the male plug from the XLR cable into the throttle & the original male plug into the female socket on the XLR cable - job done!
Best bit was that I've sited the XLR and controller in the aforesaid pocket (see photo) without having to use any cable clips or ties so it can be easily removed when the car is going in for a service. Only slight issue is that access to the controller is not possible when driving rather than if it were fixed to part of the dashboard but under normal circumstances one doesn't need to change it very often as the chosen program remains after the engine is stopped.

Just fitted my 1p blue footwell lights from AliExpress. It looks very good matches the OEM colour well, just such a shame that Audi cheaped out and didn’t go for the multicolour lights like other models.

I wonder if there is any way of retrofitting this functionality but I can imagine it would be a lot of work for just that :(

plugged one of those usb devices in that measures how much current is pulled from the USB-C charge ports (right one), and it read 2.06A. The left USB-C already occupied with a usb drive with my music. So for those who are wondering, that's around the same as 10watts. Not superfast (Supervooc/WarpCharge rates), but can put a good amount into your phones in 30 mins and probably can fully charge most phones in 1hr.

Not the most stylish item fitted to a Audi but quite practical. Cheap option and easy to fit and yet another cost cutting item that should of been from factory.

What is it?

Hi mate, how did you remove the trim panel at the passenger side with the audi logo in it? Looking to wrap mine in carbon to but can't find the where and how to remove it properly
The whole piece comes away. You may have tried it by now. The insert with the Audi logo you can then remove but I just took off logo and wrapped and cut around the insert. Give the corner a pull will come away with some force. But you shouldn’t break it in doing so.
