When i brought my car through private it has got a sooty exhaust. I hate not having a shiney exhaust, i think it looks smart. But they wont shine. I have tried Autosol which is supposed to be the nuts, its budged some of the soot but its still not gleamin like i want it too. Anybody got any tips?

Before you all ask, they are the exhaust tips that can be cleaned. lol

I used some neat thinnners once, it was brilliant, got rid of all the black stuff!

yeah my car was 2 years old when we got it exaust was black.... Like frenchy says autosol with a sponge and on the other side its brillo kind of ,,,,well scrub the crap out of it with the brillo side everywhere dont be shy with the autosol paste that crap on scrubb it then then 10 p yellow cloths rap round the exaust and buff the crap out of it you need more elbow grease pal get stuck into it and buff it off .... done nice and new

Sweet cheers guys, will paste it on then. Will a washing up sponge do, wont it scratch the exhaust?

If not ill try and do it when the weather pics up and let you all know how i get on.

thats what i used it was fine scrubbed it with the ruff side then cleaned it done it again with a yellow cloth with autosol then buffed hard polished really hard then its like new be warned though 2 days later they will be soot alover the bottom and everytime you drive but its much easyer to move than before but if you dont get a shine keep doing it it took about 3 cleans with a washing pad rough side and 10 mins of polish and buff lots of elbow glease and it will come up like new

Mr Muscle serious. Ill give the autosol ago first if that doesnt work ill try it lol

Next you will be telling me TESCO Daisy all purpose cleaner is a good substitute for Megs APC! :)

the best thing to use is cat **** that would strip paint off a nuclear sub lol

thanks frenchy2475 and 10blazin. After 1 scrubber some dosage of autosol and some pair of my old socks, my exhausts are shiney once more.

Cheers guys:yahoo:

Oh and some elbow grease

I sprayed bilberry wheel cleaner on mine then scrubbed with a wheel brush! Came up a treat.

They seem to stay clean for quite a while even though its one of those dirty smelly diesels :p Guess thats down to the DPF.

good man dave..... they look much better yeah ???? they will get dirty again but if you clean em every wash they clean up very quickly ...... oh i lied about the cat **** i feel sorry for the cats now because of the methods of extraction you guys used lol.....:scared2:
